First up, I'm new to this so I am not familar with the jargon. I have transferred a cassette to my computer via Audacity. All is fine with the exception of 6 consecutive songs -- the main voice did not record, the background music & chorus is fine. I've listened to the cassette and all is there. Help! Thanks.

Audacity can only record the signal it receives. Check the connections
between tape deck and your computer line-in port, and the alignment
of the tape heads. Perhaps one channel containing mainly the voice did
not record properly. If you exported a file like an MP3 from the
recording and that file is lacking the main voice, check that you did
not split the stereo track into two channels then did File > Export
Selection as..., so possibly exported only one channel. Check that you
did not knock the -....+ gain or L....R pan sliders on the Audacity Track
Panel, so killing one channel, or altering the balance.

It is also worth checking that you have a line in port, not a microphone
port.
