ISSUES EMA
MANUAL OR DOCUMENT YOU WANT TO CHANGE. LEAVE BLANK IF NONE OR YOU ARE NOT SURE
YOUR IDEA OR CHANGE In the event of a vehicle breakdown while serving the route, a regular carrier is currently required to take a leave day in order to be paid FOR WORK THEY'VE DONE. (Is this not working off the clock?) They also do not get paid any EMA!
WHY DO YOU WANT TO CHANGE IT The carrier did the work up until the point of the breakdown. Particularly in cases where the route is 3/4 or more completed! No other postal employee is expected to work any part of a day for FREE. The lack of EMA pay is especially wrong, completely benefitting the PO. If a carrier has an 80 mile route and has served 70 miles of it and the relief delivers the last 10, the postal service pockets that 70 miles worth of EMA. Especially with the high gas prices and low EMA this hits an already cheated carrier hard.
Never doubt that a small, group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has..
