Using replacedBy config with usernames with periods

Hello all,

I am trying to use the replacedBy option of the config file to replace a user that has an email as the username but it does not appear to be doing anything when it runs the report. Has anyone else replaced a username with a . in it successfully through the config file?

Thanks!

Can you paste all lines in your config file related to this user?

Thanks,

I really only had the replacedBy like:

# User Details

For now it's the only reason I used the config file.

Have you tested with other users (that don't have periods or @ in their names) to rule out any possibilities that the config file is not loaded properly?

K, I figured out what it was.

I could change the background color of the charts with the config file, so I knew it was working. But the actual user details weren't taking. Turns out that you have to use all lowercase usernames.

will not work, even if your log file uses Username. instead you have to use lowercase:

[hidden email]=Username

Other than that it worked fine, even with the @ and . in the username.

Thanks for the help!

Now for another one... how do you do the replacedBy when there is a space in the username?

EX: User Name

I tried:

user.user name.replacedBy=username
user.user Name.replacedBy=username

How do work with users with spaces?

Looking at the code after your comment yesterday, it must use all lowercase, that is for sure.

Try : user.user\ name.replacedBy=username

If that doesn't work, you will need to write a pre-processor on the log file to replace the username because I suppose the java properties we are using should never use spaces.

Brilliant! I guess I need to think more like a command line and less like a browser... I had tried %20, but the \ makes a lot more sense.

It worked great to use the \ to escape the space. You wouldn't normally do that to a properties file, but it works for this case.

Thanks!
