If you are organizing a World Plone Day event in your city, I want to tell you about a tool we developed for promoting an event on a bunch of event listing sites. You can use Gigblastr.com to post your event to Upcoming.org, Eventful.com, Facebook and Twitter, all in one go.

http://gigblastr.com

I used Gigblastr to post the Boston WPD event info and you can see the event posting and links on the right-hand side to these various services.

Nate,

I've heard you talk about gigblastr before and I'm finally getting around to trying it. I'm holding an Open Door event for next week at my office which is not a recognized venue I guess. So how do I get around the "I can't find your venue"?

yeah, that's a known problem which we are working to fix. you can either go to Upcoming or Eventful and add the venue on those sites, so that they appear in the Gigblastr venue search, or you can choose a more generic venue, and then manually change it after you've added the event.  The Facebook event adding doesn't complain if it can't find the venue.

Thank You Nate I just figured that out :-)

Great service btw, I just hadn't tried it yet. Everything else went smoothly and I should be able to add stuff now that I added my venue, maybe in the meantime a note at the bottom that says (if your venue is unrecognized please add it to upcoming and eventful? Possibly a pain the first time around but a little less frustrating :-))

Thanks Nate :)

Yeah, that's a good suggestion. Thanks for your feedback!
