Updated Bulgarian translation, questions

 Hello to all,

My name is Mikhail Balabanov and I have maintained Audacity’s translation into Bulgarian in the past. After a long, long pause, it has now been updated against the .pot file from 2009-09-05.

I also have some questions.

Bulgarian is an inflected language, like Russian (adjectives and verbs agree with nouns in gender, number, etc.). When GUI strings are composed by replacing a "%s" with a single shared translation of a word, its inflection may not match the context and appear as a grammatical error. Also, things like ‘Successfully exported the following %ld file(s).’ are difficult/impossible to translate gracefully. [1]

* Is there a way to provide separate translations of the same string for different contexts within the current framework (for example, using gettext’s msgctxt keyword)?

* Is there a way to provide separate strings for singular and plural (using gettext’s plural forms functionality)?

* I used the official Audacity 1.3.9 beta for Windows to test the translation. I could not find where some of the strings are in GUI, mainly FFT and transcription related stuff like note detection and voice keys. Is this functionality present in the beta?

Best regards,
Mikhail Balabanov

[1] In the particular example, the singular and plural forms would be (in Latin transcription):

‘Uspeshno be eksportiran sledniyat [1] fayl’  (‘1’ is superfluous and should be removed)
‘Uspeshno byaha eksportirani slednite 5 fayla’

These are too many differences to put them all in parentheses (and some suffixes are not appended but rather replace other suffixes anyway).

Thanks very much, I've committed that.

Richard may want to comment on the technical side of the above,
however at this point in time when we are releasing final Betas
before a new Stable release we would not be making any changes
to how code is translated. Does Alexandre have any comments as
to how we handle plurals in Russian? And isn't gender changing
with context sometimes a problem in French?

Some functionality is in the Beta code but commented out so that it does
not actually appear in Beta releases. It would appear if you built Audacity
with the comments removed.
