First, thanks for the reply Manu. I'm wondering if something else is involved. First let me say that uninstalling last night took over an hour. After installing the latest version of EiffelStudio 6.5 I copied the entire Eiffel Software directory to another directory and this took about 2.5 minutes. I'm still wondering if there is some problem with the EiffelStudio un-installer as I have seen some take what seems a long time 5 or maybe even 10 minutes but never over an hour. My machine is reasonably capable 2.4 Ghz Intel with 4 CPU's and 6GB of memory.

We should probably thanks Microsoft for this feature. Basically before actually
removing all the installed files, they move it to a temporary folder. During that
time the user can click cancel, in which case all the files are restored to their
original location. If you do not click cancel, and once all the files are moved,
then the actual deletion takes place. On slow file systems it certainly takes a
long time.
This is a reason we have created the .7z package for the development releases.
Delete the previous install, extract the new one and you are up and running
(assuming you have the ISE_EIFFEL, ISE_PLATFORM and ISE_C_COMPILER environment
variables defined.
