Good morning fellow musicians,
In producing a fix for Debian bug #524733 [1], I have also included a
patch for the initial preferences that defaults to enabling PortAudio
output. This tries to ensure that audio still functions even if the
default ALSA device is mapped to pulseaudio, and pulseaudio has been
suspended; as is in the majority of standard Ubuntu cases.
This combination works well on a "clean" install (ie, no preferences
file) on my system and configuration, but I should be grateful were
users to test that this also works for them, especially (but not
solely) if said users have esoteric or obscure set-ups.
Testing would be most effective if the
"$HOME/.config/MusE/MuseScore.*" file(s) were removed or backed up
elsewhere, and subsequently the installed mscore package upgraded to
my latest PPA pre-release[2] and the results reported in a reply here.
