Ubuntu karmic 9.10 is officially out!
Give it a spin and let us know if everything works as expected. The
live cd environment or a virtual machine is perfect for testing. :-)

Η Κυπριακή Τοπική Κοινότητα Χρηστών Ubuntu Linux σε συνεργασία με το
φοιτητικό παράρτημα ΙΕΕΕ Πανεπιστημίου Κύπρου σας προσκαλεί στο 4ο Πάρτι
Κυκλοφορίας Ubuntu/Fedora όπου θα παρουσιαστούν οι καινούργιες εκδόσεις
Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala) και Fedora 12 (Constantine). Η Εκδήλωση θα
γίνει στην Πανεπιστημιούπολη του Πανεπιστημίου Κύπρου στις 7 Νοεμβρίου

Announcement of 4th Ubuntu/Fedora Release Party

The Cypriot Ubuntu Linux Loco Team in cooperation with the Student's
IEEE Branch of Cyprus University would like to invite you to the 4th
Ubuntu/Fedora Release Party where the new release of Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic
Koala) and Fedora 12 (Constantine) are going to be celebrated. The Event
will take place at the Campus of Cyprus University on the 7th on
November between 5:00 - 9:00 pm.

We will have 3 Presentations and 2 Workshops and you are welcome to
bring your computers to participate in the labs. Technical Support will
also be provided by members of the community in case you have any

H Κυπριακή Τοπική Κοινότητα Χρηστών Ubuntu και το Φοιτητικό παράρτημα
ΙΕΕΕ του Πανεπιστημίου Κύπρου οργανώνουν το επόμενο πάρτι κυκλοφορίας
για το Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala) και Fedora 12 (Constantine) και καλούν
όλους τους φίλους του Linux και του Ελεύθερου Λογισμικό να βοηθήσουν

Έχουμε κλείσει το πάρτι για τις 9 Νοεμβρίου στο Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου. Θα
έχουμε μια αίθουσα για παρουσιάσεις και μια για τα εργαστήρια. Θα
χρειαστεί όμως να φέρουμε εμείς υπολογιστές μια και δεν έχουμε πάρει
άδεια να εγκαταστήσουμε το Linux ή ακόμα και να χρησιμοποιήσουμε το
livecd στους υπολογιστές του εργαστηρίου.

Αν κάποιος από εσάς έχει κανένα ενδιαφέρον θέμα να παρουσιάσει στείλτε
μας την ιδέα σας και θα φροντίσουμε να κανονίσουμε κάποιo χρόνο για την
παρουσίαση. Αν θέλετε πάλι να παρουσιασετε κάποιο εργαστήριο είστε
επίσης ευπρόσδεκτοι.

Χρειαζόμαστε εθελοντές και χορηγούς για τα ακόλουθα:

1) Θέλουμε κάποιο να ετοιμάσει διαφημιστικά.
2) Θέλουμε κάποιο να τα τυπώσει. Αν είναι εταιρία θα προβληθεί σαν
σπόνσορας.
3) Θέλουμε άτομα να τα διανέμουν σε όλες τις πόλεις.
4) Αν μπορούσαμε να βάλουμε κάποιες ανακοινώσεις σε εφημερίδες,
περιοδικά, ράδιο και τηλεόραση θα ήταν ένας καλός τρόπος προβολής και θα
προβληθούν σαν χορηγοί επικοινωνίας τα μέσα που θα ανταποκριθούν.
5) Θα χρειαστούμε άτομα να φέρουν τους υπολογιστές του με εγκατεστημένα
Linux (Οπιαδήποτε διανομή είναι εντάξει).
6) Αν ξέρετε κάποιο κατάστημα υπολογιστών που μπορεί να μας δανείσει
κάποιους υπολογιστές για τα εργαστήρια θα προβληθούν σαν χορηγοί της
εκδήλωσης.
7) Χρειαζόμαστε επίσης και ένα χορηγό για αλμύρα και ποτά.

Βοηθήστε μας για να γίνει η πιο επιτυχημένη εκδήλωση που κάναμε ποτέ!

Preparation for Ubuntu 9.10 and Fedora 12 Release Party

The Cyprus Ubuntu Loco Team and the Student IEEE Branch of Cyprus
University are organizing the next Release Party for Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic
Koala) and Fedora 12 (Constantine) and are inviting all the friends of
Linux and Free Software to help!

We have booked the release party on the 7th of November at the Cyprus
University. We are going to have a room for presentations and a computer
lab for the workshops. We will need to bring our own computers for the
workshops since we have not been granted the permission to install or
even use the livecd on the computers of the lab.

So if any of you has an interesting idea for a presentation you can send
your proposal and we will arrange a time slot for the presentation. Also
if you want to deliver a workshop instead that is also possible.

We also need contributors for the following:

1) We need someone to prepare some flyers.
2) We need someone to print the above flyers.
3) We need people to distribute the flyers on all cities.
4) If we could have some announcements on tv,radio and newspapers that
would be sweet!
5) We need people to bring their computers to the labs so we can
demonstrate Karmic Koala and Fedora 12.
6) If you know a computer shop that can contribute some computers on
loan, bring them on and they will be announced as sponsors.
7) We need a Snacks and Refreshements sponsor.

Help to make this event the most successful ever!

Really exciting news, the new version (2.6.1) includes support for Google talk audio/video chat! I haven't tried it yet, but from blogs and news articles it seems very promising.

Μεγάλο βήμα προς τη χρήση ελεύθερου λογισμικού για την πρωτοβάθμια και δευτεροβάθμια εκπαίδευση!

Μεταφέρω την ανακοίνωση που αναφέρθηκε στο φόρουμ και πιστεύω είναι αρκετά ενδιαφέρον είδηση:

Δημιουργήθηκε ένας ιστοχώρος από την Υπηρεσία Τεχνικής Στήριξης ΣΕΠΕΗΥ με τον οποίο είναι δυνατή η εγκατάσταση όλων των λογισμικών που φαίνονται στην εικόνα, επιλέγοντας απλά τα πακέτα "dimotiko" ή "gymnasio" από το πρόγραμμα διαχείρισης λογισμικού του Linux.

Δηλαδή πλέον η εγκατάσταση εκπαιδευτικού λογισμικού είναι κατά πολύ ευκολότερη σε Linux παρά σε Windows. Εάν προσμετρήσουμε ότι το Linux τρέχει και σε αρχαία εργαστήρια (LTSP) και ότι δεν χρειάζεται συντήρηση (αυτόματα updates σε όλα τα προγράμματα, όχι ιοί κτλ) και φυσικά ότι δεν ανησυχούμε σαν υπεύθυνοι ΣΕΠΕΗΥ για παράνομο λογισμικό, φαίνεται ότι πλέον το Linux είναι πανέτοιμο *τουλάχιστον* για το Δημοτικό και το Γυμνάσιο.

Time for decimals! Ubuntu Hardy Heron, the current Long Term Support
(LTS) release, 8.04.3 release is finally here, with integrated updates
and bug fixes.

Αγαπητό Υπουργείο Παιδείας,

Μελετώντας τις προδιαγραφές των μαθητικών υπολογιστών που έθεσε η
εταιρία Ψηφιακές Ενισχύσεις Α.Ε. που εποπτεύεται από το Υπουργείο
Οικονομικών της Ελλάδος βρήκαμε αρκετά ενδιαφέροντα στοιχεία. Ο

Σχετικά με το υλικό (hardware) οι απαιτήσεις είναι πολύ πιο χαμηλές από
αυτές που έθεσε το δικό μας Υπουργείο Παιδείας και θα μπορούσε άνετα
κάποιος με τα �400 να αγοράσει ένα υπολογιστή χωρίς να συνεισφέρει
επιπρόσθετα λεφτά.

Σχετικά με το λογισμικό (software) έχει δοθεί η επιλογή στους μαθητές να
χρησιμοποιήσουν από XP Home και άνω ή Linux/Ubuntu/Edubuntu. Επίσης όσον
αφορά τις εφαρμογές γραφείου τονίζετε ότι αυτές πρέπει να υποστηρίζουν
τα εγκεκριμένα από τον οργανισμό ISO πρότυπα.

Ενδιαφέρον επίσης είναι ότι η προϋπόθεση για αντι-ιική προστασία υπάρχει
μόνο για τα λειτουργικά Windows αφού πρακτικά αυτό δεν αποτελεί πρόβλημα
για τα Linux.

Εμείς σαν κοινότητα που υποστηρίζει το Ελεύθερο Λογισμικό και τα ανοικτά
πρότυπα πιστεύουμε ότι το παράδειγμα της Ελλάδας είναι προς μίμηση και
αναμένουμε την αναθεώρηση της απόφασης για την αποκλειστική προϋπόθεση
λειτουργικού Windows Vista στους επιχορηγημένους υπολογιστές.

Υπάρχει κανείς που θέλει να αναλάβει να γράψει ένα ωραίο κείμενο για
να φτιάξουμε ένα petition, για υποστήριξη Linux/Unix συστημάτων, στο

Τα σημεία που μπορείτε να τονίσετε είναι:
- Υπάρχει τρόπος υποστήριξης *μέσω flash*, για παράδειγμα στη Σερβία
το RTS (Ραδιο-Τηλεόραση Σερβίας http://www.rts.rs/ ) το χρησιμοποιεί
άμεσα (Σελίδα: http://tinyurl.com/lhzqgs Flash:

- Υπάρχουν αρκετοί χρήστες που χρησιμοποιούν Mozilla Firefox, Opera
και άλλους browsers - γιατί να τους πιέσουν να χρησιμοποιούν άλλο
πρόγραμμα κι όχι αυτό της αρεσκείας τους;

Σημείωση: Μου μυρίζει θέμα που μπορεί να τεθεί στην Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση. Η
λύση υπάρχει, αλλά προφανώς αυτοί δε θέλουν να την εφαρμόσουν.

μια παρουσίαση για Ελεύθερο Λογισμικό/GNU/Linux. Θα γίνει την επόμενη
Παρασκευή 03/07/2009 στις 12:00 το μεσημέρι. Θα κάνουμε βασικά την
εισαγωγική παρουσίαση για το ελεύθερο λογισμικό. Όσοι είστε Λεμεσό και

A security issue affects the following Ubuntu releases:

Ubuntu 8.04 LTS
Ubuntu 8.10
Ubuntu 9.04

This advisory also applies to the corresponding versions of
Kubuntu, Edubuntu, and Xubuntu.

The problem can be corrected by upgrading your system to the
following package versions:

Ubuntu 8.04 LTS:
libaprutil1 1.2.12+dfsg-3ubuntu0.1

Ubuntu 8.10:
libaprutil1 1.2.12+dfsg-7ubuntu0.1

Ubuntu 9.04:
libaprutil1 1.2.12+dfsg-8ubuntu0.1

After a standard system upgrade you need to restart any services that use
apr-util, such as Apache or svnserve, to effect the necessary changes.

Details follow:

Matthew Palmer discovered an underflow flaw in apr-util. An attacker could
cause a denial of service via application crash in Apache using a crafted
SVNMasterURI directive, .htaccess file, or when using mod_apreq2.
Applications using libapreq2 are also affected. (CVE-2009-0023)

It was discovered that the XML parser did not properly handle entity
expansion. A remote attacker could cause a denial of service via memory
resource consumption by sending a crafted request to an Apache server
configured to use mod_dav or mod_dav_svn. (CVE-2009-1955)

C. Michael Pilato discovered an off-by-one buffer overflow in apr-util when
formatting certain strings. For big-endian machines (powerpc, hppa and
sparc in Ubuntu), a remote attacker could cause a denial of service or
information disclosure leak. All other architectures for Ubuntu are
not considered to be at risk. (CVE-2009-1956)

It's about time a distribution gets a Greek codename! And Fedora 11 is entitled "Λεονίδας"

Among the thousands of users that follow and use Fedora in their everyday home or office desktop (or server), they are considered one of the few "fronts" that support free software and are always (or most of the time) one step ahead of Ubuntu (in my opinion), when it comes to using the newest, shiniest, top-of-the-line software.

Fedora 11 has been improved in the following areas:

* sound
* improves key virtualization components
* introduces Fedora Community, a portal project beta

press.redhat.com went ahead and recorded more changes:

* New fingerprint reader support that makes biometric support easy and well-integrated
* Automatic font and mimetype installation that downloads support as needed for foreign-language documents and other content types
* New IBus input method system that makes it easy to switch locales without having to restart a session
* Improved kernel modesetting features for more video cards, including many models of Intel, ATI and NVidia
* Support for the latest filesystems like ext4, with much higher device and file size limits, and faster consistency checking
* Improved virtualization features such as a more flexible and interactive console, and a rewritten VM creation wizard
* MinGW cross-compiler tool set for creating Windows executables using the Fedora distribution

In general, a standard system upgrade is sufficient to effect the
necessary changes.

Details follow:

It was discovered that cron did not properly check the return code of
the setgid() and initgroups() system calls. A local attacker could use
this to escalate group privileges. Please note that cron versions 3.0pl1-64
and later were already patched to address the more serious setuid() check
referred to by CVE-2006-2607.

Evaluation of the 3rd Release Party

On 2nd of May 2009 we had our 3rd Release Party at Intercollege
Limassol. During the event we had two presentations in English. We
started at 10:30 am to give the time for more people to attend and we
did not do any workshops as we had problem installing Jaunty on the PCs
due to lack of resources.

The Presentations:

1) Introduction and History of Free Software and GNU/Linux.

Theodotos Andreou explained the conditions that spawned the Free
Software Movement, the GPL and focused on the advantages of using Free
Software and GNU/Linux.

2) Engaging in Free Software Development Process.

Leonid Mamchenkov described the benefits of using Free Software by the
student community and focused on the benefits for the students of
Computer Science. The availability of the source code can help a CS
student to learn and study the code from different projects and
programming languages. He also pointed that free software development is
not only programming and bug fixing but involves many phases like
Testing, Documentation, Translations, Communication etc and students can
get involved in whatever they feel they can help best. Contributing in a
Free Software project not only makes you feel more valuable but can help
a student acquire practical experience and enrich their resume.

We had around 30 persons and some new faces. The reason for such a low
attendance can be traced in the fact that we chose the middle of a long
weekend for the event. Organising the event in the morning was also
wrong and lastly the fact that we used only the web and email to
advertise the event had its share.

Nevertheless the meeting was useful because we gathered 22 signatures
for registering the community as a non-profit association. Marinos
Ioannou will take the signatures to the lawyer and start the procedure.
We also had as a special guest Mr Kostas Tsakaloglou, a member of
HELLUG, and we had some interesting exchange of views about how to
attract the interest of more people and sponsors. He is going to
represent us in the 2nd HELLUG Communities Conference and we gave him a
brief presentation to show at the event.

This Release Party was also innovative because for the first time we had
presents to offer to the participants. The presents were donated by MNS
Gadgets Center and we thank Mr Manos for the idea. The winners were
Stelios Agapiou, Andrianna Hadjiefstathiou and Charalambos Leventis
that won the Motorola mobile, the USB Stick and the wireless keyboard
respectively.

We would like to thank:

Στις 2 Μαΐου 2009 είχαμε το τρίτο Πάρτι Κυκλοφορίας στο Intecollege στην
Λεμεσό. Έγιναν 2 παρουσιάσεις στα Αγγλικά. Αρχίσαμε στις 10:30 για να
δώσουμε το χρόνο σε περισσότερο κόσμο να έρθει και τελικά δεν κάναμε
εργαστήρια επειδή είχαμε πρόβλημα να εγκαταστήσουμε το Jaunty στους
υπολογιστές γιατί ήταν χαμηλών προδιαγραφών.

Οι Παρουσιάσεις:

1) Εισαγωγή και Ιστορία του Ελεύθερου Λογισμικού και του GNU/Linux

Ο Θεόδοτος Ανδρέου εξήγησε τις συνθήκες που γέννησαν το Κίνημα του
Ελεύθερου Λογισμικού, για την Γενική Άδεια Χρήσης GPL και εξήγησε τα
πλεονεκτήματα όταν χρησιμοποιούμε Ελεύθερο Λογισμικό και το GNU/Linux

2) Συμμετέχοντας στην διαδικασία Ανάπτυξης Ελεύθερων Λογισμικών

Ο Λέονιντ Μαμτσένκωβ εξήγησε τα πλεονεκτήματα της χρήσης Ελεύθερου
Λογισμικού από την φοιτητική κοινότητα και έδωσε έμφαση στα
πλεονεκτήματα για τους φοιτητές της Πληροφορικής. Η διαθεσιμότητα του
πηγαίου κώδικα βοηθά ένα φοιτητή της Πληροφορικής να μάθει μελετώντας
τον κώδικα από διάφορα εγχειρήματα και γλώσσες προγραμματισμού. Τόνισε
ότι η ανάπτυξη και η διόρθωση σφαλμάτων δεν είναι οι μόνοι τομείς που
μπορεί κάποιος να συνεισφέρει αλλά υπάρχουν και άλλα θέματα όπως
Δοκιμές, Τεκμηρίωση, Μεταφράσεις, Επικοινωνία κλπ και οι φοιτητές
μπορούν να εμπλακούν σε αυτό που τους ταιριάζει καλύτερα. Συνεισφέροντας
σε ένα εγχείρημα Ελεύθερου Λογισμικού εκτός από ηθική ικανοποίηση
προσφέρει πρακτική εμπειρία και μπορεί να εμπλουτίσει το βιογραφικό του
φοιτητή.

Είχαμε περίπου 30 άτομα και κάποια καινούργια πρόσωπα. Ο λόγος της
μικρής προσέλευσης οφείλετε στο ότι επιλέξαμε το μέσο του τριήμερου για
την εκδήλωση. Το ότι το κάναμε πρωί επίσης δεν βοήθησε και τέλος το
γεγονός ότι χρησιμοποιήσαμε μόνο τον παγκόσμιο ιστό και το ηλεκτρονικό
ταχυδρομείο για την προβολή της εκδήλωσης έπαιξε το ρόλο του.

Παρόλα αυτά η συνάντηση ήταν χρήσιμη γιατί μαζέψαμε 22 υπογραφές για να
εγγράψουμε την κοινότητα ως μη κερδοσκοπικό σωματείο. Ο Μαρίνος Ιωάννου
θα πάρει τις υπογραφές στον δικηγόρο για να αρχίσει την διαδικασία.
Είχαμε και ένα εκλεκτό καλεσμένο τον κ. Κώστα Τσακάλογλου, μέλος του
ΕΛ/ΛΑΚ, και είχαμε μια ενδιαφέρουσα ανταλλαγή απόψεων για το πως να
προσελκύσουμε το ενδιαφέρον του κόσμου αλλά και χορηγών. Ο Κώστας θα μας
αντιπροσωπεύσει στο 2ον Συνέδριο Κοινοτήτων ΕΛ/ΛΑΚ και του δώσαμε μια
σύντομη παρουσίαση για να την προβάλει στην εκδήλωση.

Αυτό το Πάρτι Κυκλοφορίας είχε και κάτι πρωτοποριακό γιατί είχαμε τη
ευκαιρία να δώσουμε κάποια δωράκια στους συμμετέχοντες. Τα δώρα ήταν
προσφορά της εταιρίας MNS Gadget Center και ευχαριστούμε τον κ. Μάνο που
είχε την ιδέα. Οι νικητές ήταν οι Στέλιος Αγαπίου, Ανδριάνα
Χατζηευσταθίου και Χαράλαμπος Λεβέντης οι οποίοι κερδισαν το κινητό
Motorola, τη μνήμη USB και το ασύρματο πληκτρολόγιο αντίστοιχα.

which improves on the functionality of FreeBSD 7.1 and introduces some

Availability
-------------

FreeBSD 7.2-RELEASE is now available for the amd64, i386, ia64, pc98,
powerpc, and sparc64 architectures.

FreeBSD 7.2 can be installed from bootable ISO images or over the network;
the required files can be downloaded via FTP or BitTorrent as described in
the sections below. While some of the smaller FTP mirrors may not carry all
architectures, they will all generally contain the more common ones, such as
i386 and amd64.

MD5 and SHA256 hashes for the release ISO images are included at the
bottom of this message.

The purpose of the ISO images provided as part of the release are as
follows:

dvd1: This contains everything necessary to install the base FreeBSD
operating system, a collection of pre-built packages, and the
documentation. It also supports booting into a "livefs" based
rescue mode. This should be all you need if you can burn
and use DVD-sized media.

disc1, disc2, disc3, livefs, docs: disc1 contains the base FreeBSD
operating system and a few pre-built packages. disc2 and disc3
contain more pre-built packages. Those three can be burned to CDROM
sized media and should be all you need to do a normal installation.
livefs contains support for booting into a "livefs" based
rescue mode but does not support doing an install from the
CD itself. You would need to perform a network based install.
docs contains the documentation.

bootonly: This supports booting a machine using the CDROM drive but
does not contain the support for installing FreeBSD from the
CD itself. You would need to perform a network based install
(e.g. from an FTP server) after booting from the CD.

Note: late in the testing cycle it was discovered some machines do not
recognize the i386 disc1 as bootable (they just fall through to booting
off the next boot device). All affected machines did see the other discs
as bootable. If you have a machine with that problem booting off either
bootonly or livefs and then swapping in disc1 once sysinstall starts
should work.

FreeBSD 7.2-RELEASE can also be purchased on CD-ROM or DVD from several
vendors. One of the vendors that will be offering FreeBSD 7.2-based

Updates from Source
-------------------

The procedure for doing a source code based update is described in the
FreeBSD Handbook:

The branch tag to use for updating the source is RELENG_7_2.

FreeBSD Update
--------------

The freebsd-update(8) utility supports binary upgrades of i386 and amd64
systems running earlier FreeBSD releases. Systems running 7.0-RELEASE,
7.1-RELEASE, 7.2-BETA, 7.2-RC1, or 7.2-RC2 can upgrade as follows:

# freebsd-update upgrade -r 7.2-RELEASE

During this process, FreeBSD Update may ask the user to help by merging
some configuration files or by confirming that the automatically performed
merging was done correctly.

# freebsd-update install

The system must be rebooted with the newly installed kernel before continuing.

# shutdown -r now

After rebooting, freebsd-update needs to be run again to install the new
userland components, and the system needs to be rebooted again:

# freebsd-update install
# shutdown -r now

Users of earlier FreeBSD releases (FreeBSD 6.x) can also use freebsd-update to
upgrade to FreeBSD 7.2, but will be prompted to rebuild all third-party
applications (e.g., anything installed from the ports tree) after the second
invocation of "freebsd-update install", in order to handle differences in the
system libraries between FreeBSD 6.x and FreeBSD 7.x.

Θα ηθελα να σας καλωσορίσω σε μια ακόμη περίφημη ευκαιρία για να
αποδείξουμε τη δέσμευσή μας στην κοινότητα ανοικτού κώδικα!

Όπως έχω υποσχεθεί, σας ζητάω (ναι, από όλους εσάς) να απαντήσετε
σ'αυτό το μήνυμα και να αναφέρετε απλά πως βοηθήσατε με τον δικό σας
ξεχωριστό τρόπο την κοινότητα ανοικτού κώδικα - ΟΠΟΙΟΣΔΗΠΟΤΕ τρόπος
και να είναι αυτός! Θα υπάρχει στήλη ειδικά για τα ΔΙΚΑ ΣΑΣ νέα, στη
λεπτομερής μηνιαία αναφορά (".pdf") - ε λοιπόν, σ'αυτή ειδικά τη στήλη
θα μπορούμε να προσθέσουμε οποιαδήποτε δραστηριότητα έχετε αναλάβει
γι'αυτό το μήνα που πέρασε.

Ας περάσουμε στα σημαντικά σημεία όμως:
- Τι θεωρείται ως συνεισφορά (κατάλληλη γι'αναφορά);
Οτιδήποτε έχετε φτιάξει, αναφέρει, δημιουργήσει και είναι είτε είναι

Φαντάζομαι πως ολόκληρη η ομάδα θα ξετρελαθεί με τις μινι-αναφορές
προσωπικών κατορθωμάτων!

Hello and welcome to another opportunity to show our commitment to open source!

As promised, I am asking you (yes, all of you) to post what you have
done to help the open source community - in ANY WAY possible! We'll be
posting YOUR news in the detailed long version of the monthly
report (PDF) - we can pretty much place any activity you may have done
during this past month.

On to the critical parts:
- What is considered as a contribution?
Anything you may have done that includes (or is) open source, real-life or not!
Simple real-life things do matter, like "I persuaded and invited 5
people to attend *this* open-source event", or "I presented and
installed ubuntu to two friends of mine".
Surely I bet that the whole team would love to hear about your
personal accomplishments!

Just reply here and I'll gather them properly!

Αγαπητέ Μάνο,

Μίλησα και με το Intercollege και είναι εντάξει μαζί τους. Εμείς είμαστε
θετικοί απλά θα θέλαμε να ξέρουμε αν υπάρχει κάποια προυπόθεση από την
πλευρά σας για να γίνει αυτό. Για παραδειγμα αν θέλατε να βάλετε κάποιο
μεγάλο banner θα ήταν δύσκολο λόγω του χώρου αλλά δεν υπάρχει πρόβλημα
αν θέλετε να φέρετε κάποια διαφημιστικά μαζί σας.

Μας ενδιαφέρει να συνεχιστεί αυτή η συνεργασία και στις μελλοντικές
εκδηλώσεις και θα ήταν καλά να το οργανώναμε εκ των προτέρων στο μέλλον
και να μπείτε στις ανακοινώσεις σαν χορηγός της εκδήλωσης. Η επόμενη
εκδήλωση θα γίνει τον Νιόμβρη.

Red Hat today published a new study together with Georgia Tech mapping
open source activity across 75 countries. Officially called the [1] Open
Source Index (OSI), the final score is made of a number of factors
including policies, practices in the Government, Industry, and
Community. Topping the list current is France with a score of 1.35.
Spain is second at 1.07, Germany third at 1.05.

The Cyprus Ubuntu/Fedora Linux Community and the Intercollege Limassol
invites you...

With the new Linux releases of Ubuntu 9.04 “Jaunty Jackalope” and
Fedora 11 “Leonidas”, we would like to take this opportunity to
welcome you to a Linux and Free Software Seminar which will be held at
Intercollege Campus in Limassol. During the event, there will be two
presentations (in English) as well as Linux workshops, where users
will have the opportunity to use these new systems as well as their
applications. The participants will have the opportunity to ask
questions about Linux and get help from members of the community if
they need. All workshops will be supervised by members of the
community who will assist the public in familiarizing themselves with
Linux. Everyone is encouraged to bring their own Computer for a
demonstration or to even receive technical support from the community.

Free Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Edubuntu and Fedora CDs will be distributed to everyone!!

The event will take place on the 2th of May, 2009 at 10:00 – 13:00 at
the Intercollege Campus on 92 Ayias Phylaxeos Str. in Limassol.
