UM Laptop Grand Sale

Hello everyone... Sorry for the late update,

I posted about the Univeristy of Malaya (UM) showcase in the UM Laptop Grand Sale a while ago. However due to some higher administration problems the project has been postponed to the 24th, 25th and 26th of July 2009. The details:

Date: 24th, 25th and 26th of July 2009 

Place: Kompleks Perdanasiswa, University of Malaya.

Time: 9am - 5pm

I still want to set up the Linux booth and so I still need volunteers to help promote open source software, Fedora and stuff by showing them its usable. Maybe give demo's and let them try it out. Bring your laptops and show off what you can do. Just tell me when you can come within those three days.

You'll get a booth, water and wifi. Bring extension plugs if possible because we might not have enough. 

I also want to ask about the possibility of getting banners and buntings to borrow and free cd's to give out... Who should I ask it from?

Maybe this task can be our new ambassador AlifAzman way to clinch his ambassadorship? whaddaya say dude?

For the demo, do we need to bring our own lappie or U have some machines prepared for it?

screamyx hotspot etc at the venue? just in case the wifi get congested
with so many people about.

also please indicate the possible laptop models that will be on sale.
this is to allow me to dl packages to ensure that the laptops will be
ready to be used should the buyer decides to install fedora.

p/s broadcom wireless cards still don't work with PAE kernels >_<;;

Dear all,

The event opens at 9am... Just to be ready, volunteers should probably come half an hour earlier or so (8.30am) to set up. It's best to gather at the Auditorium Kompleks Perdanasiswa in UM. It would be at a white building with a green roof opposite the UM library. There's a parking lot in front of it. It's where the event is going to be anyway.

Dell Latitude D610 fully support Fedora 11, I’ll already tested on my brother’s. If the laptops listed built-in Atheros or Intel chipset, you’ll no need to install ndiswrapper etc.

The UM Laptop Grand Sale has been delayed yet again to the 27th, 28th and 29th July 2009. Which is next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. I know it's probably harder now for you guys to come but if you can please tell me and we can work something out. We'll probably man the booths ourselves at this rate but if possible can I get the livecd's and I'll distribute them with the organizing team. I'm so sorry for the inconvenience.

Week days is quite a problem for me due to work commitments (same like everyone else).

However, here's what I can help.

1. The Fedora buntings is still with me and you can use it during the event. In fact the reason it still with me is because of this event. Red Hat do ask for some pictures of the event though.
2. The Fedora 11 CD's had arrived and I can give some (around 20-30) for the event. Do tell me if you need more.

We can meet you at PPUM if you want. But if stopping in front of PPUM may be inconvenient then you could probably come into UM and stop at Kompleks Perdanasiswa (KPS) which is opposite the library. Anytime on Monday morning would be ok for me. Just come whenever you send your wife?
