I have started a new thread as the original thread has gone to another page and I have not had a response to my query about last Wednesday's Commission hearing on this matter.  Does anyone know what happened to the two teachers, the Principal involved and the future reqirements for Interim Reports?

If you are a union member you can read the relevant thread that is still at the top of the recent posts list on the union forum.

Please could you tell the rest of us who aren't teachers but who are interested in education, freedom of speech and democracy what has happened about the Eastern High Schools teachers.

Non-teachers can't go to some sites on the SSTUWA forum. So please keep the general public involved so we too know what is going on.

It's a pity PLATO had to go. Not a lot of people are looking at Education Matters. Maybe some more publicity to broaden the readership?

Teachers will always need a watchdog independent from the SSTUWA which the general public can log into.

Is there still no information on what happened over this incident?

Maybe its being dealt with by E R E C .... which means the result will be kept secret and will have been decided by our nameless EREC reps.

EREC = Employee Relations Executive Committee

"BIG EREC"
"The Employee Relations Executive Committee (EREC) provides a high level forum to enable the
Parties to monitor developments, consult and address strategic and operational issues that affect the
Department’s employees."

"LITTLE EREC"
Industrial Co-ordination Group
"(a) The EREC, through the establishment of the “Industrial Co-ordination Group” (EREC – ICG),
is to act as a clearing house and/or a conduit to expedite the co-ordination and resolution of
industrial, and other Agreement or Award matters."

To find out more, read the full General Agreement, Part 12, pg 33+.

The next question:  How efficient is it ????  Considering there has been no outcome of the so-called Interim (read: EXTRA!!!) reports, no, it isn't.

EREC is supposed to meet every 3 weeks. It is comprised of reps from DET and the SSTUWA.
No-one knows who the SSTUWA reps on EREC are. It seems to be a closely guarded secret for some reason.
There is never any feedback from EREC meetings.
