If your living or visiting California then why not take the famous coastal path of Highway 1, and check out The Pelican Inn.

Website: www.pelicaninn.com

The restaurant's daily menu is a hearty blend of country English fare: prime rib and Yorkshire pudding, Beef Wellington, bangers & mash, and shepherd's pie to name a few. The special weekend feature offers a British traditional Sunday pub roast carvery served from 11:30 am to 3:00pm.
The Pelican English bar reflects the best of the pub: fine ales, draught beers, stouts, pilsners and a whole range of wines, sherries and ports from around the world.

There is a "Snug" (bar parlour of the inn) off the bar for overnight guests or for those gala occasions. In the wider sense of the word, the Snug room of a 16th century hostelry is a cozy Pub parlor room replete with comfy wingback chairs, overstuffed sofa, antiques and crackling fireplace. In this spirit, the Pelican Snug is just that. The Snug is offered up for tea parties, baby showers, celebrations and small meetings.

The location of this romantic getaway is over the hills to the beach...a country inn, capturing the spirit of 16th century England's west country, awaits you.
Barely 20 minutes from the Golden Gate Bridge, The hospitable Pelican Inn nestles at Muir Beach in the sea-blown fog, among the pines and alders, the honeysuckle and jasmine ... a lodging refuge between the ocean, Muir Woods and the Northern California National Recreational Area parks.

If driving is all too much for you, then why not stay in one of there romantic period rooms. They offer varied room selections such as room 5 (see right) offering: Four Poster Queen bed with tapestry drapes in a small cozy room. Balcony over looking the tree tops and conservatory and Private bathroom with shower.
In the morning you will be greeted by a traditional full english breakfast to set you going for the rest of the day. North to Napa where you can taste a variety of wine or south to San Francisco and beyond.

Directions:
20 Minutes from Golden Gate Bridge on Highway 1. From Highway 101 take the Stinson Beach Highway 1 exit. Drive about 20 minutes. At bottom of hill—after miles of wilderness—the Inn is the first building on the left.
The hotel is located a short walk from a beautiful Northern California beach, Muir Beach, and a few minutes drive from Muir Woods National Park.

Stayed here and had breakfast. Great place and also nice beach down the street. Can get bust at the weekends, but you can eat outside on the front lawn.
