Wally and Qury you both make very good points. We have a conservative running against Barbara Boxer for the Senate in two years. WE need to start now in CA getting his message out. Also, I've been speaking with young people, teens coming into voting age, one on one that are conservative. They don't know how to get their points across.
What I do is give them specific examples of what they can say to their peers. I give them names, the party, the legislation, and how they and the legislation is impacting their lives now and in the future. When you spoon feed the information they say WOW. Then what we do is make sure that they have FACTS. It must be verifiable. The young are so entertainment oriented that their candidate must be nice looking. Sorry to say it but they must. Someone like Jindal who is articulate and someone who has gotten the job done, even against her own party, like Palin is what the young people are looking for.
We need to stop the "this administration" hype. We need to teach them the generational build up to the problems they have here and who caused them. We need to get them out of the "this administration" mindset. We need photos, party, and bills that have impacted them, such as the section in the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac bailout that mandates on every new mortgage a $420 fee is placed on every $100,000 of the mortgage and given to organizations like ACORN.
Give the young people that information that the Democrats slipped that into the legislation. Make sure they know that Pelosi, Barney Franks, and the House banking committee could have stopped the economic crisis if they had regulated Fannie and Freddie like Republicans tried to to. KEEP GIVING THEM SPECIFIC INFORMATION FOR AMMUNITION against the slogans, sound bites, etc.
Our young people have become sound bite and slogan voters, as attested in this last election. Start teaching your children in a very nonchalant way with BBQ's with their friends etc on FACTS. We can do it.
If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything.
