I noticed at the end of part 4, when they were being asked about their thoughts on consolidations, President Cantriel made the comment that while he did represent some rural carriers in the urban areas his members were mostly in rural areas. Is that really true that most of the 65000 rural routes are in the rural areas? Does that mean there are fewer L routes than I thought?
If this is true, then L route carriers in urban areas will never have a voice. The NRLCA will continue to try to maintain the quaint rural carrier image even though management keeps changing our working rules.
That's a good question. I don't think he knows much about his constituency. I think that was apparent while reviewing the contract that we voted down. It's sad, really sad. They need to go back to their routes for awhile and see what our jobs are like now.
