Dear Audacity,

I downloaded your product to help me do some light editing of my
dictation tapes.
First off I'd like to state the obvious. Your software rocks! I love
open source software and the level of superiority it has over 'otc'
software. I know you guys bust your ass for little or no pay and you
deserve major props for the work you do.

Secondly, I'd like to add a few of my humble suggestions... Like I
said I have several wav files of voice tapes that I'm going though and
'cleaning'. After using your product for a few weeks I have been in
want of a few functions. Maybe some plugins exist for these but if so
I haven't been able to find them.

1. Select by time
Under Edit -> Select my options are All, cursor to end, or beginning.
How about next x number of seconds, then query the user in a input box
on how many seconds (-20 means from cursor 20 seconds back)

2. Multiple Selections
Maybe I haven't figured it out but pressing the control key would be
nice if it let you select multiple regions for processing

3. Automatic marking and removal of silence
I know how you can mark an area for silence but how can you
automatically then remove said silence without having to go back and
mark each one separately?

4. Macro, Batch, or/and Command line scripting
For instance I have around 10 files. I know on each one I want to run
a high pass filter at 120 and compressor at certain settings, then
save as ogg.. ect... Having to import each file, run the effects, then
save would be less time consuming if there was a way to save a command
file and then I could either, select it from a macro list, or invoke
the macro via command line would be even smoother (audacity.exe my.mpg
-macro myscript.scp)

Thanks for a sweet program, Keep up the good work, i can't wait to see
the next version
