A carrier in my office got a Form 50 in the mail yesterday and on the bottom it says "Step Increase Postponed".
Does anyone know anything about why this would happen? This guy is a model carrier, never gets postal patron complaints, is quiet as a church mouse so never in trouble with management. Weeks go by and you don't even know whether he was there or not he's so quiet. Only issue he's ever had was that he was in an accident with his LLV 2 or 3 years ago but didn't get any discipline.
Is the Service routinely doing this with their budget "problems"?
I told him to talk to management when they work tomorrow and see what they say, and if need be then to our Stew, but that I'd ask if anyone else has ever heard of this happening.
never heard of this happening, it used to say step increase after x number of weeks of satifactory service, but the good service part has been taken out.
sounds like they have him on record as taking LWOP. Does his paystub list LWOP? He could also check with HR or shared services (I know, I know). He can alos ask his management to get an explanation from District. If he can't get an answer, he always has the option of filing a grievance.
i thought about this today, and think you should file a grievance before time is up. the contract sets the time between steps, and is not open to interpetation.
