Some javascript/style in this post has been disabled (why?)
Hi folks,

Have you guys/dolls thought of some extra spam prevention on plone.org? I receive an average of 200 spam emails per day for this issue: http://plone.org/products/simpleblog/issues/15
I have a mail rule to delete them but it would be better to solve this properly. Any plans?

Also, could someone with the proper permissions (for some reason I cannot delete items in my own tracker) remove that entire issue 15?

Cheers,

Danny Bloemendaal.

We should change the workflow to require login to add comments to poi
issues.
I have discussed this with the board already and all agree that this is
a logical step.

Now we just need to find someone willing to implement it.

In Poi 1.2.4 I already added a state 'restricted' to the poi tracker
workflow; in this state anonymous can view issues and responses, but
only members can add them.  The initial state for new trackers stays
the same: open for submissions from everyone.

I think I mentioned this earlier either on this list or in a reply to
a trac issue.

Anyway, Poi 1.2.5 should be included in the next plone.org update and
then this should work.

Is anyone in favour of making this new restricted state the default
initial state for new issue trackers?

Done on Poi trunk.

I will see about doing a new release before the end of the week.
Should I not have time this is of course easy to change via the ZMI as
well.

I would say we do *not* change the state of all current trackers on
plone.org.  A few lines in an announcement could help though.  Is
anyone going to place a news item about the update?  Something like
this for the Poi part would be handy then:

The issue trackers in the add-on products section have gotten a new
state 'restricted'.  In this state anonymous visitors can view issues
and responses, but only logged in users can add them.  This should
help in the fight against spam.  For new issue trackers this is the
default.  If you are the owner of an existing issue tracker and you
like this setting, you can choose it in the workflow state drop down
box of your tracker.

Cheers,

Can you notify when it is deployed? I can write an announcement if you
want.

… and if someone has a spam-cleanup script, that would come in
super-handy.  :)
