Q) Why an anthro/human RP?
A) Why not? Q) No, really. Why? A) Well, given the fact that many online roleplays cater specifically to one or the other, we figured that mixing the two would not only bring something new to IRC roleplays, but that it would also be a lot of fun. Sometimes, you just can't have the same experience in single-species roleplays, and the intermingling can bring out some cool sessions. Q) I heard that all furries are perverts. A) That's not a question. Q) Okay, are you guys perverts? A) Nope. Not at all. We're not the people you saw on MTV or CSI. We don't happen to think that furry people with snouts and tails are sexy, and we'd rather not see our favorite cartoon characters having sex with each other. We're just normal(ish) people who like anthros. Q) i liek 2 cyber n i haf a 12-inch penus. kin i play? A) GODS NO. Q) Why aren't there more players? A) Size doesn't matter! We've always been a game that prefers quality over quantity. It's not like we're trying to win any size contests - we just want to get as many good players as possible. So if you think you may like this, why not join us? Q) Why don't you have a character list on the site, and not just the Forums? A) Since HTMLing a whole form to get it online takes work AND we're all very busy people here at The Requiem, we've decided to hold off on adding that little bit to the actual site until we start getting more active members. All active characters will still be listed on the Forum, which is updated with each approved character. Q) Hey, I sent in my application a few days ago. Why haven't I heard anything yet? A) Because your character form hasn't been reviewed yet. Basically, we aim to look over all the applications that we receive at least once a week, usually on a Friday. As time permits we'll check 'em earlier, but you shouldn't have to wait more than a week. If you haven't heard back from us, please use the contact form to inquire. Q) How often is a player expected to play their character? A) Short answer: We expect people to play as often as they want to. Long answer: Since we're busy people ourselves, we tend to understand that real life is more important than an online game. All that we ask is that you come up with reasonable explanations for your character's absence. For example, a loner character would tend to live a secluded life when you are not RPing. If any other characters are closely involved with yours, you will have to make more complicated arrangements with them. In general, if you're going to disappear for more than a couple of weeks or so we'd like to know. All that we ask is that if you know you will be away, you post a message on the Forum explaining your absence. If any player disappears for more than a month without explanation, their character will be removed. They'll be welcome to return, of course, but they'll have to go through the whole application procedure again. Q) Are there any rules against idling in the channels? A) A lot of our players idle in the OOC channel, which is permitted. We do NOT want people to start just randomly idling in the game channels. It's annoying to the ops, and could be interpreted as an act of wanna-be staffer behavior. Of course, you're welcome to idle in game channels WHEN there is a game going on. If any public game starts up we always let everyone know so they can go join in or watch. Also, instead of popping in and out of other channels to see if a game is going on, just ask someone in the OOC channel. Q) How descriptive should my Character Profile be? A) While it doesn't have to read like an epic story, everyone who reads it should be able to get a clear, precise picture of not only what your character looks like, but what he went through and what he's like. Plus, being more descriptive adds more depth to your character, and allows others to fully grasp who he is. Q) Can I PLEASE let my Anthro character have a gun? A) Well, that's a tough one. Common weapons like pistols/revolvers and shotguns are a little more readily available on the Black Market, and your character would have a higher chance of being able to get one. You must remember though that the B.M. hikes the prices up like crazy, since everything is technically illegal. If you REALLY want your Anthro to carry a firearm, they must have two things. One: a damn good reason for having it. And two: a good explanation as to how they went around to get it. NOTE: Realize that making an Anthro with a firearm is taking a considerable risk on your part. Human law enforcement perceives all firearm-carrying Anthros to be a threat, on top of it being illegal, and usually respond in kind. Q) Wait...so are you saying my character might...*gulp*...die?! A) Yes. I am saying precisely that. This isn't the type of roleplay where you can just get a slap on the wrist or whatever. This is realism incarnate. If your character gets wounded, you are expected to play it out to reality standards. No quick healing, no super-high falls without getting really hurt or dead, and no bulletproofing. To survive as an Anthro, you will have to think quick on your feet, and stay off the radar. As a human, your chances are much higher for staying alive, but if you mess with the wrong crowd, unless you can smooth-talk your way out of it believably....well, ever hear of the term "guilty by association"? Q) Can I be a Government/Military/Law Enforcement character? A) Those areas are strictly reserved for those with really good In-Game knowledge and those who are sponsors/supporters. You don't have to be a sponsor to play one, though, but you do need full authorization from the head Op, Vik Nightfox. Usually, this requires you being a Half-Op or Full-Op or a sponsor, but exceptions can be made if you prove in your profile that you have a really good knowledge of the world of Ithaca. And if you do not play your character correctly, you will be warned once, and then you will either be forced to have your character lose their standing or make a new character altogether. Refusal to do so will lead to consequences. |
