Hi All
If you are based in Melbourne come and volunteer for a couple of hours
at the Software Freedom Day event in the Melbourne Town Hall on
Saturday 15th September.
Computerbank has a small amount of funding for this event from the
Melbourne City Council and this year also from Multimedia Victoria.
Software Freedom Day is a global, grassroots effort to educate the
public about free and open source software.
There will be a developers area for people who are working on open
source software such as PLONE, ZOPE and PYTHON.
The main emphasis for this year's event is on software the general
public might use. We will have Office programs, Graphics, Multimedia,
Education, Kids Resources, Games and Wireless for people to try.
There will be a Linux distros demo area, a burning table and also a
couple of small projectors showing short open source promos. We have
hundreds of copies of Ubuntu and the Open CD (open source software for
Windows machines) to give away.
Please email me at jan at computerbank.org.au if you can help on any
stall for a couple of hours. We need you.
