Oh please follow all of the SIDS back to sleep rules!
Research has shown that you can reduce the likely hood of SIDS if you follow the back to sleep program. SIDS is not suffocation, however blankets and other additional items in the crib has the potential to reduce oxygen flow and babies arousal. Since the back to sleep campaign was kicked off in 1992 SIDS rate has been cut in 1/2. This includes putting babies on back, taking all items out of crib, keeping babies cool, no smoking… and new research encourages pacifiers to help stimulate arousal.
There is new research out that gives us all hope (see link below), but states that we need to still follow the back to sleep program for this DOES reduce the risk for SIDS.
