AP I like this new format.  I do have a general question though.  I seem to have a lot of problems with this site freezing on me.   I have ran it on my computer as well as my work computer and have experienced the same issues, any suggestions?

Thanks for the feedback... What web browser are you using? Also, what is the version number?
Does this happen consistently or is it sporadic?

I have had the problems both with Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox.  Happens pretty cosistantly but when it happens it usually in ways if that makes sense.  Not sure about what versions of each program.  I am pretty sure they are both current.

That's interesting that you are having trouble with both browsers. When the site freezes, does it just partially display the page, does it show an error or does it not display anything at all?

Could you please visit the java.com site at the link below and tell me what version of java is says you have installed?
http://java.com/en/download/installed.jsp?detect=jre&try=1

BTW, I'm going to move this conversation to its own thread on the Help & Support forum. That way, if anyone else is having similar problems, it will be easier for them to locate the discussion.

AP, I reinstalled IE and things to be working fine.  I also found out that my work computer is using an older version of IE and I am not allowed to update it because some of our programs are not compatible with newer versions of IE.  Hope this helps if anyone else has any problems.

OK I'm having a problem on my work pc. The page will load but only the first couple of posts show up. There's no way to move the page down. I'm using Windows ME (stop laughing) and IE6. I can't update to IE7 b/c my boss doesn't want to. No other reason except he doesn't want to deal w/ learning anything new. I never checked to see if Java is updated. Probably not b/c that would be my job...LOL. Can I even update it using IE6?

Grey, Is this a new problem? Or has the forum worked in that browser prior to this?

I know that i.E. 6 has some issues, and if it's not updated, that could be a problem as well. From a security & functionality standpoint, it's not a good idea to be using I.E.6 at this point, but I know this can be something difficult to overcome in a work environment where someone else has control over what software is used and what software gets upgraded.

The best bet in your situation would be to ask if you could install Firefox, which would not affect I.E. in any way. Firefox has a free, open source license so installing it on you work computer shouldn't be a legal issue either for your employer since the license grants you rights rather than restricting them, and doesn't require that you accept a End User License Agreement on you or your employer's behalf.

a_p,

I have been testing out Google Chrome, Google's new browser, that has been available since November, 2008.

I find it works without any difficulties like with IE7.  It loads faster and it is much simpler to use.  It has tabs like IE7, it loads photos or video clips much faster and easier.  It also posts faster, unless the web site is having issues or difficulties.

I would recommend anyone having troubles with IE7, to give it a shot.  If you don't like it, you can always delete it.  Since YouTube is now owned by Google, anything on YouTube loads easily and faster too!  In fact, I got the Google Chrome download site from YouTube!

If anyone has any non-technical (I am only an intermediate user and do not have technical knowledge about how Google Chrome works) questions to ask me, I would be happy to help you.  For Windows users, it works for both Vista (which I use) and XP.  There is also a Java version for Chrome.  The nice thing about it, the one download includes everything you need to start using it immediately.  Google has thought of pretty much everything to make this browser very easy to use.  Be sure to take a spin and "Learn about Chrome" on the download web site and you will see what I mean.  I find it works very well with both Nabble (ATWT & GL) MBs.  It also works well with CBS.com.

Here is the link for the download site:  http://www.google.com/chrome/index.html?brand=CHMZ&utm_source=en-et-yt-ftr&utm_medium=et&utm_campaign=en

You may find in using Chrome, that it may not work with a web site.  In that case, you will have to use IE7 or other recognizable browser.  This has only happened to me once, however, since I have been using Chrome only about three weeks or so.  I used Chrome to post all the spoilers, etc. on this MB in a_p's absence.

Enjoy!
