Just watched the first part of a two part series of Kerry O'Brian interviewing the British Education Expert Sir Ken Robinson. I recommend that you should watch part 2 tomorrow night. One point that he made was that the powers to be in education and politics concentrate on curriculum (particularly the Sciences and Maths) along with assessment and standardise tests but leave out the most important part - which is the class room teacher. Isn't this how Plato developed in WA? - the missing ingredient, the importance of the teacher!
Why does Australia continue to look for education answers in the UK and the USA? Why not contries that are successful? Some Scandanavian and Asian countries come to mind.
