Question, does anyone get shaky from low cortisol?

So I am fairly recently diagnosed.....this summer.  I started out at a really low dose of HC about total 10mg a day.  I have been slowly titrating up (to about 17.5mg daily), because I feel better.  (I am also on florinef about .1mg now).

THis past couple of days, my husband was sick and I felt it coming on so I have been taking between 20 to 25mg daily , which I do think has been effective in staving off infection (I've felt a little feverish and chesty but not bad).  I almost think I could have taken a little more.  I have been getting shaky about mid morning, and did not know if this was low cortisol, or too much thyroid.  I am not having palpitations and no anxiety.  My palms of my hands seem to be turning orange simultaneously, and I do have increased salt on my skin.

So I am pretty sure that my body needs more HC, because I am fighting off this infection. .....but the reason I ask, is because I have never had shakiness from low HC before, so I wondered what it felt like, and if there was any other reason to know that it was not too much thyroid (other than blood test, which would be next step if this persists.)

Another thought.

Maybe, this titrating up of HC to avoid getting my husbands flu is the first time I have had the 'guts' to take as much HC as my body needs.....maybe that is releasing the thyroid into my cells.....

Appreciate anyone's thoughts or experience with shakiness as it relates to HC and or thyroid.

Shannon,

When cortisol goes low often times Blood Sugars get very low.  This is a subject I haven't seen to much talk about lately.  I have to be on a diet of very low fast acting carbohydrates, no sugars, even fruit causes low BS.  I have a glucometer and I can eat high carb foods and within an 1 1/2 hrs my BS will be down in the 50's.  At this point I get shaky.  So, it is  possible that the shakiness is a result of your BS going down.

For years I have had to stay on a low carb, high protein diet.  I eat a lot of vegetables that are low carb.

The only time I get shaky is if I am exercising and don't have enough calories and I bonk.
Kind of what Randy said, low BS.
I did get very shaky the first night I had the flu a month ago, like I was shivering.
I think everybody reacts differently to thyroid, you could be hyper and not have all the symptoms.
When I recently added cytomel on top of my normal Levoxyl dose I started losing weight (not good for me) and had increased urination. After a week of that I decided it was best to stop the Cytomel and it was not helping the fatigue.

Thanks for the input.

Joel, regarding fatigue, have you had growth hormone checked?

Shannon,

I get the shivers inside & out when my cortisol is low.  I take 5 or 10mg HC & it stops in just a few minutes.  Other symptoms I get are arms as heavy as lead &/or cold to the bone.  No amount of blankets get me warm.  Within minutes of taking HC I warm up.

Shannon,

How are you doing?  Did you avoid the flu?

I only feel shaky from too much coffee :)  If my cortisol is low, I feel like I have the flu and I get super cold.

Its the cortisol I think

I have cut back on thyroid....and hair is starting to go coarse, getting throat soreness, and under the left side of my tounge hurts (I think I have a little sublingual thyroid tissue under left side of my tounge)

Anyhow,  getting these hypothyroid syptoms, but still occasionally getting shaky.

I get shaky about 10am every morning.  (I have only slowly titrated up HC dose since developing addison's this summer) I only take 5mg of HC in am.  I think it is simply not enough.....especially this last week when I was fighting back my husbands flu.....and was at work...etc.

The silmutaneous ORANGE color of my palms....saltiness.....with the shakiness.....makes me pretty sure it is inadequate HC.

Thanks all for your help,
Shannon

I experience shakiness also. Didn't know what was going on. I have so much going on.  I really need some help on other issues with addison's. I was diagnosed in 200 7 and I had sufffered so long and went to a doctor that didn't know much about it I guess. He kept putting me in for low sodium and i would feel better for a few days. I finally went out of town for a doctor. I am currently on hydrocort  15 mg morning and 5 mg. at  5:00 pm each day. I have a long medical history of chronic back pain and need back and neck surgery. I have been on pain management for a long time for this condition. I have gained so much weight that it its unreal since taking hydrocort.  I also take florinef. My blood pressure has always been low all my life so that was not unusual for me. I go to an endochronologist after I admitted myself to a hospital and told the dr. what I thought I had. I was right.
I need help with this weight gain., I weighed 95 to 110 soaking wet. I have always been able to eat what I wanted. I am 58 years old. I am scared and don't know what to do. My Dr. doesn't say much when I go in and he doesn't see me very often. He doesn'tcall me back with my blood work. Someone please help me.
