This book is about a group of kids, similarly to some E. Nesbit books, although the style is quite its own. The kids are not displayed as 'paragons of virtue', as the author hints.

I'm not sure that I saw any sort of western-style plot in the book. It's mostly just about their lives. Some sad things happen. It has a more dramatic tone than such as The Treasure Seekers, by E. Nesbit. The flavor is different.

I liked it a lot, although it is plain fiction.
