I assume people saw the article in the West where Principals have decided they now want Year 7's in their schools as opposed to their recent stance. It is expected from them as they will experience difficulties in providing courses, and will lose staff as the HYC begin high school.
I hope that the Primary principals association will now come out fighting, as will the union.
We cannot expect primary schools who have lost out on staffing and resources for the last 7 years to kowtow to secondary principals and DET just because they couldn't get their act together, to continue to have difficulties.

What do teachers think of the real issue of Yr 7 becoming part of high school?
Staffing must not be the deciding factor.

As a parent I think it is silly as they are too young.
When I taught that age group in Victoria yrs 7 and 8 were separated from the rest so it rather defeated the purpose of putting them in high school if they were in Junior High school anyway.
