Manager anounced that cariers are now responsible for arrived at unit scans. How do we handle this change until next mail count? I am RCA and have not discussed this with regular yet. Any information would be welcome. Oklahoma City Eastside Station.

If they tell you to do it then do it but then file the grievance. Should end up being a class action since affecting all carriers. Time yourself and keep notes.  There is one office out of all of the dallas district that got double scan time at the last mail count (12 minutes a week).  The carriers are required to log in as an in office user and scan all DC's arrived and then download and then reload as normal.  This was directed by district and they received the  extra work in their evaluatiions.  Until count the regular should be paid on 8127.  I do not know how RCA's get paid for the extra work since they are hourly.  If it is added to the evaluation then the RCA gets paid by the higher evaluation (if enough to bump it up an hour) when they work the full day.  I have a similar thing going on in my intermediate office.  The scanner is connected with the finance number out of the primary office, but now that scans are coming under closer look it seems that even though I make all scans in the intermediate office they are coming up as failures because of where the scanner is downloaded in the primary office. Makes the intermediate office on the hot list every week-boohoo. The supervisor told me that I would be required to start logging in at the intermediate office.  When I explained that I did not get paid for that and that it would require me to get paid an additional 12 minutes a week (6 to log in the intermediate office and then another six to log back into primary office) he decided to get additional information from postmaster.  Have not heard back from them yet as to decision.  Either way I think that I will be filing a grievances because he made the comment that he would just scan all DCs and the redplum as delivered.

This is a clerk's duty. They have been doing it in our office for some time. You should not be using the in office part of your scanners. Ther ios no way to pay you for this.

When you scan as "delivered" a window pops up asking for the zip code. If you punch in the zip code of the intermediate office that should tie the delivery scan to that office & keep them off the list.

This is one where  a little alliance with the  clerk craft can go a long way. The simplest and most effective grievance would one coming from THE CLERKS as  a "stealing of time" grievance. If it were coupled  also with a rural carrier greivance , it would be even more powerful. Log your time, go to management and ask for an "8127" and submit it for extra duty pay. If they refuse...FILE! When your NRLCA rep blows it off..CALL THE NLRB! This is NOT supposed to be going on!

Our unit manager has backed off, and said that rural has the option of not participating in arrival scans. A little brow beating if we opt out. I opted out, as did my regular.
