I would like to know how many days my supervisor should give me when there is a schedule change for Saturday. The route is being  filled by senority on Saturday. I have been working on it every saturday and now the person that has more senority than me decided they wanted to work it. The supervisor called me on Friday afternoon at 2:30.

You should have a Matrix in your office so you would not just be going by seniority.  If you are off the Matrix, then seniority does matter.  Perhaps the person senior to you saw the schedule and informed the supervisor that the schedule was improperly done and that person is entitled to the work.

I take it you are not the primary on this rt. Is there not a matrix? Seniority wins if rt has noone assigned

Unless the senior RCA is already working an aux rt. Then if it is without an RCA next senior RCA at unit has first rights

We do have a matirx but the the subs are working on Saturday so it comes down to seniority. The senior person has known for a month about the schedule. Each Saturday that I know her regular is working I would personally call her and she has turned it down. I am all for seniority, what I want to know is how many days the office should let me know about the change. I think what happened was her regular decided to work for the Saturday at the last minute, and so I was the loser. I just don't think that  is right. The sad part of this situation is that the senior person is the office steward. ?????

first we need more information, if all the subs are working how can it come down to seniority ? second, the regular carrier on the other route had off why vacation ? or j or k day? when they asked you to work this other route was the other sub already scheduled to work another route? if the other sub was scheduled to work another route when they asked you to work they then become unavailable , and you are scheduled , so they followed the seniority rules, and you shouldnt have been told your not working. if the reg was working their j or k day that also should not have happened .

The subs that are on the matrix for this route1 I have been working on, on saturday are working their routes they are first on. This route  does not have a regular sub for the moment, they have not filled it because there are to many subs, and the office is trying to give more hours to each sub that is already there, plus who knows what the next mail count will bring. The schedule for Saturday is usually always the same because each route except this one has a sub. The route2 this senior person is on right now is a J route so it is every other Saturday but this regular changes her mind a lot. Most of the time she works every other Sat. but it varies. The senior Rca on the J route2 has never wanted to work on this route 1 in the past, until last week. It comes down to the sub and the regular deciding things at the last minute, I think a schedule should be made and we need to follow it. Dont  get me wrong I am all for the senoroity,  but I am subject to their mind changing at the last minute.

ok so if i understand this the other carrier was taking a day of leave and changed her mind? or never really put in for it  , and then decided not to put into for it? so then the other sub, with seniority used the i was never asked to work this route in order to bump you off from working it? first what they should be doing is asking the rca if they want the route at that point the other regular carrier has to decide whether they are taking leave or not that day, if they are not that rca would be scheduled, if they are then they must put in a leave slip immediately and then you would be scheduled on the other route . if they then decide later to put in a leave slip , they would then go to the second spot on the matrix, because the other rca is unavailable . and if you know this other route its possible you could be working that one instead , i hope i made sense, what you should try to do is get them to agree to post a monthly schedule that way you will know in advance when your working
