After the count  the route I sub on went from a k route to a J route.   I would like to switch from the j route to a k route in our office that has no sub of record on it. Can I do this?

only if the route has a new vacancy for a leave replacement, when the route that has no sub on it became a route without a sub, did the supervisor offer the route to all rcas in your office.

your postmaster or supervisor should have offered that route to all subs in your office after it became vacant. that is the correct procedure ............ if the supervisor did not offer it you should have a legitimate gripe

Marie read this very carefully.......... from the contract

E. Filling a Leave Replacement Vacancy
1. When a vacancy occurs in the leave replacement
ranks, management may add it to a part-time
flexible rural carrier’s assignment or it shall be
offered, at the time of the initial vacancy, to qualified
substitutes, rural carrier associates, and rural carrier
relief employees in that office in the order of the
longest period of continuous service in the office,
without regard to classification. If the vacancy continues
to exist and the route has been substantially
changed (i.e., classification, relief day, or assignment
of vehicle) or the regular carrier assigned
to the route has been on an extended absence
for more than 30 calendar days, the assignment(
s) shall be offered again to qualified substitutes,
rural carrier associates, and rural carrier relief
employees in the office in the order of the longest
period of continuous service in the office, without
regard to classification.
2. If a part-time flexible rural carrier vacancy exists, the
Employer will have the option of eliminating the
part-time flexible rural carrier position or posting the
assignment in accordance with Article 30.2.A.3.
