Russian JCUKEN layout

Hello,

Is there a JCUKEN layout available for Russian?  JCUKEN is the layout most commonly used in Russia.  I haven't seen YAWERTY used all that much.

If there isn't, there are tables here:  http://serious-sam.net/files/russian_jcuken.tar.gz

I made them a while ago.  If there isn't already such a layout, please feel free to include them.

Cheers,
Misha

Isn't the layout same as "ru-kdb.mim" which is included in
the m17n input method?

Yeah, they look the same.  Sorry, I didn't know about the m17n package
before you mentioned it.

Cheers and regards,
Michael

Hello,

ru-kbd.mim is very strange one. It just resemble Russian keyboard layout.
If so why you just cannot use normal Russian keyboard layout through
xkb? Scim and m17n are about to input non-Latin characters with
their romanization. ru-kbd.mim has nothing to do with romanization.
I really don't know why it exists and if it's really used by anyone.

Thanks, Daniil.

Hello Daniil,

I want to use scim because I enter input in languages other than
Russian and English, such as Japanese.  Using scim for Japanese and
xkb for English/Russian seems a little bit awkward to me.

What in particular is strange about ru-kbd.min?  I've been using it
for around a day and haven't come across anything out of the
ordinary...

Cheers,
Michael

No, scim and m17n are not limited to romanisation.

The map of ru-kdb.mim was taken from Emacs' input method
"russian-computer" which is the default one for "Russian"
language environment.

If so, doesn't it mean that JCUKEN is also "very strange one"?

By the way, scim/m17n is not limitted to inputting non-Latin
by romanization.

I'm not sure what you are trying to say.

JCUKEN is just the layout I created for my personal use (it was pretty
easy actually, only took a couple of minutes) before I found out about
the m17n package.  I've been using ru.kbd.mim since a few days ago and
it seems to be the same layout.  There is no need for JCUKEN in this
case.

Thus my original question is answered, and this topic can be considered closed.

Thanks and regards,
Michael

You wrote that JCUKEN and ru-kbd.mim are the same, and
Daniil wrote that ru-kbd.mim is very strange.  That means
JCUKEN is strange (at least for Daniil).
