Hi All, I have a Plone 3.3.1 that the mailhost wasn't setup
completely. I created a user and it gave me an error that the mailhost
email to send with was not setup. The notification message did not get
sent to the user but a user was created that has both reset password
and remove disabled. Therefore, I cannot delete them or reset their
password.  How do I either delete this user and try again, or activate
this user?

This seems to be a known bug I'm afraid: https://dev.plone.org/plone/ticket/9640

Some javascript/style in this post has been disabled (why?)
Karl,
I agree, I have changed the priority to Critical. See ticket for details.

Valdes,
Have you tried deleting the user via the ZMI?
ie: Zope Management Interface (host:port/manage) ---> Plone (site name) --> acl_users --> users --> user[delete]

in the zmi open acl_users
there you find source_users where you find all users. you can either delete them
od assign them new passwords.
also there is source_groups where you can edit groups and assign them members

Unfortunately the stuck users do not appear in the ZMI acl_users
folder. The validated users do. -- IV

I had this exact problem about 3 weeks ago and had me seriously doubting
if I wanted to go with Plone.  It makes it feel like a black box that
you can't get into.  (the new admin/implementor experience is severely
affected by things like this)

I tried to delete the user with ZMI, but the "stuck" user was not
there.  It's as if the user is in limbo in some other location.  I asked
the Zope guys (on IRC) if there was an easy way to search the tree --
trying to help myself.  The answer I got was no, and it felt even more
like a black box.

(I started over... I learned to backup often.  And am still worried
about "wedging" issues taking me down.)
