I'm pledging $500 towards the Australian Fellowship of Evangelical Students (Victoria), payable when the first Anglican bishop in Melbourne signs the GAFCON declaration and reports it here.

I'm thinking Stephen Hale would be the likeliest suspect, but let's wait and see.

[Edit:] On second thoughts, I realize I've made this too difficult. Stephen, the money can go to TEAR fund if you would prefer, or some other broadly evangelical organization that you nominate.

Anyone else want to add a pledge to the 'Get a bishop to sign' fund? The first Melbourne Anglican bishop to sign the GAFCON Jerusalem Declaration, and report their signing on this thread gets to nominate the broadly evangelical organization to which your pledge is given.

Um this looks like bribery to me

Why don't you offer $100 per Sydney Bishop who signs it? Last I checked none of them had yet. And that way AFES probably stands more of a chance to get some much needed funds

No, not bribery, as the money will have to go to a group that doesn't bring financial advantage to the bishop concerned. AFES and TEAR fund fit the bill.

I'll send a donation to AFES anyway, they are a good group and well worthy of support. I fear that if I wait, the money will be safe.

The point is that by asking people to sign, you are asking them to declare where they stand. That's a great thing to do, but can also bring disappointment.
