Ohh ...i spent quite a bit of time reading these documents...and i must say..im impressed...
I think you have a really sound platform here Alan...I notice that Robert signed some of these...and I think he would have a solid shot at a national position also...
I think you got a good grasp on the direction we should be heading..Whether or not these ideas can be implemented tho..I dont know..but I do know they are they very things that I think should be fought for...Interesting reading guys...I hope others take the time to read them also!
To err is human...to blame it on someone else shows management potential!

I also read Alan's ideas and see no legitimate reason why many of these ideas can't be addressed at negotiations. One statement I read in Alan's letter to all state officers that concerns me. He felt there was too little input on what issues the State Presidents felt were important to address at negotiations, and too much time spent on the list of what National officers felt was important. How would they know? Some of these people have never delivered a piece of DPS mail. I guess my biggest issue with National officers is, I don't think they understand, or maybe they just don't care what is important to us.
Good luck Alan. I hope I am around to see you elected to a national office. You got my vote!

ARE YOU CRAZY? I do not want to be "strongly encouraged" by anyone or any group on what health care program I should choose for myself and my family. Health care programs are and should remain the choice of the individuals that are being covered by it. I choose to save my "good shopping skills" for when I need a pair of shoes.

Cindy, You just watch the next area this company attacks to cut costs. I have had a HSA for 3 years and think it is the way to go, especially if you are a good shopper. Pay very close attention, if we get National Health Care, you will lose your rights to be a good shopper or have a choice where you shop.

I agree that the National Officers should provide a history of their voting record.  However, I also feel the national delegates should reveal their voting records also.  We do not know when we elect a delegate what they will vote for or against.  I have been a delegate and have found some delegates say one thing and vote another. The majority of the delegates are always elected by popularity and not their voting record.  In Tennessee we can not even get the state paper to put in the delegates positions and why they want to be a delegate.  I presented a bylaw that would make the paper leave some columns for the delegates to write a little, but the major leaders of our state, including the President, Secretary-Treasurer and state board members said no, my bylaws got over 50% but you needed 2/3 to carry.  The leadership basicly voted it down.  I dont believe the delegates that go all the time want this information spread to the membership.  Anyway, I would love for you to state your opinion about this.  Also, concerning health insurance, I would like to see some benefit for the carriers that do not use the postal insurance benefit because they have other insurance.  These carriers lose this benefit.  Good Luck

Carl, In Colorado we provide 50 words of space for delegates tp makes statements, however, many do not and fewer put in contact information in the event a potential voter would like to feel them out. On your health care issue, unless I am mistaken, you can always get into the system during open season and I know of no requirement to be in if you have something else you prefer. I'm not sure I clearly understand what you were getting at
