So I think that we're coming to the conclusion that the underlying QuickFIX/J library will likely support the "generic asset" functionality that Robert needs.  That being said, FpML is definitely interesting.  Does anyone have any sense for its support in the industry, as far as actual use for swaps, OTC options, or interest rate derivatives?

Given that a set of tools for creating, reading and editing FpML documents is a fairly large project, we will probably hold off on building it ourselves until there's a significant demand.  Consider this a call for that demand...  Is there anyone who needs this?
