| Subject: Re; ION turntable
| I recently purchased your ION turntable.
We only make the Audacity software bundled with the turntable, not the
turntables themselves. We often find the version of Audacity on the Ion
installation CD is out of date. The current Audacity stable version is 1.2.6
(or 1.2.5 for Intel Macs) which you can download here:
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/.
You can check what version of Audacity you are using at Help > About
Audacity or Audacity > About Audacity in the program. Please update if you
do not have the current stable version.
| Please can you advise me on how to record a full LP record -- I have
| tried at 33rpm and 45rpm -- there doesn't seem any difference -- and
| it only recorded for 1min, and at another attempt only recorded for 3mins.
This is a known problem with USB turntables most commonly caused by
a loose or defective USB cable. Make sure the cable is tight both ends or try
a brand new cable not supplied by Ion. Please see our help page on USB
turntables, especially the Troubleshooting section:

| Also I want to export to MP3 players and have been informed I need
| to download LAME which I thought I had done but I think it is RegCure
| that has been downloaded.
You do need the LAME MP3 encoder but the version you need depends on
your operating system and version of Audacity. Please see this help page
and read the appropriate instructions for your operating system e.g. read
the Windows instructions if you are on a Windows machine:

(not to me personally) and tell us what operating system you are on (e.g.
Windows XP, OS X 10.4, and if you are on OS X, whether you have an
Intel Mac or Power PC).
