Our license (LGPL) already allows the use in commercial applications
(to some extend). For example you can take the lame.exe and call it
from your program to convert a .wav, or you take the DLL and convert
some real-time input on-the-fly. In both cases you have to provide the
source for lame (.exe or DLL) together with your product (as long as
the .exe or DLL is a separate file in your product). It's enough if
you have the official .tar.gz somewhere on the CD/DVD and use the DLL
or .exe which was compiled from those sources. If you modify the .exe
or DLL, you have to provide those modifications to lame together with
the official .tar.gz, but I don't think you want/need to do that.

You have to take into account, that you may also have to obtain MP3
license, your lawyers should have a look at
http://www.mp3-licensing.com/ (and our license, the LGPL, what I
described above is just a quick overview in the words of a developer).

If you have some more questions, feel free to contact
[hidden email] (I CCed it for this answer), that's a mailinglist
which all active lame-developers read.

Bye,
Alexander.
