Re:ArcSDE Connections

Thanks for the help guys,

I can now confirm that access to ArcSDE 9.2 works well for Vector layers with uDIG 1.2.M8.

With over 500 layers in our Corporate ArcSDE Db the first access takes ages (over 30mins) to list the layers, but after that its all good !

Cant say the same for Rasters though (for the meantime this isnt a great concern).

Regards,

Shaun

Sure, just prod me in the morning and I'll get it again for you.

As of 26 March 2009 the Department of Natural Resources and Water/Environmental Protection Agency integrated to form the Department of Environment and Resource Management

Think B4U Print

1 ream of paper = 6% of a tree and 5.4kg CO2 in the atmosphere

3 sheets of A4 paper = 1 litre of water

Nice; did you need to add the ibm jar as well?

It is pulling down the titles and bounds for each layer; I wonder if
there is a faster way (it should be doing that in a background thread
...).

Gabriel has added raster support int he last 6 months and we have not
added it into uDig yet (ie support is there at the programming level
we just have not made the user interface for it yet in uDig).

Jody,

Yep, the ArcSDE JAR file request in 1.8.M8 now asks for the SDK, JPE and
ICU.
Performance is actually pretty good (compares well to ArcMap).I can
understand why it takes so long with so many layers.
No probs on rasters for the mean time. We only have a few Rasters in our
Corporate Db and get good performance from GeoServer on these anyway.

Cheers,
Shaun
