The Colorado - as in the River??  It was MUCH lower in the 70s, not to
mention last year.    Mead and Powell are pretty low, but the River was at
or higher than median most of this year.   Can you clarify?

Thanks!
Kara

The comment about the Colorado (Yes, River), came from the KUER broadcast
this a.m. & was a comment by Jim Thebaut, who has a new documentary showing
tonight in SLC. http://www.runningdry.org/learn.html is a link that shows
Mr. Thebaut's resources as well as a chance to watch the trailer.  Our
precious water resources need to be protected, if we are behaving in even a
remotely prudent manner.  JF

Michelle Peterson () New developments in solar technology

Some javascript/style in this post has been disabled (why?)

I just read about some interesting new developments in solar energy research…..by a 12 year old boy in Beaverton, OR. Perhaps you’ve already heard of this, but if not, click on the link and read what extraordinary developments this kid is making in 3D solar cell technology.

http://www.katu.com/news/28432984.html

"In his project, 'A Highly-Efficient 3-Dimensional Nanotube Solar Cell for Visible and UV Light,' William (the 12 yr old 7th grader) invented a novel solar panel that enables light absorption from visible to ultraviolet light. He designed carbon nanotubes to overcome the barriers of electron movement, doubling the light-electricity conversion efficiency. William also developed a model for solar towers and a computer program to simulate and optimize the tower parameters. His optimized design provides 500 times more light absorption than commercially-available solar cells and nine times more than the cutting-edge, three dimensional solar cell."

These 3D cells could make solar energy a more viable energy source depending on development time and market cost.

Michelle Peterson
