QuickFixJ dropping sessions

Hi,

I've been using QuickFixJ 1.4 for a few months now and lately I've been experiencing connectivity problems. I'm hoping someone from this forum can help :0.  Here's the scenario:

My java application connects to a fix server with 4 sessions at once and sends about 1-5 orders or cancel requests per second. Every 20-30 minutes, my QuickFixJ adapter suddenly stops sending requests and it stops receiving Exec Reports. What happens is that there's a heartbeat, and a heartbeat response followed by a TEST REQUEST being sent out by me. The FIX server responds back with a heartbeat but nothing else happens. It tries to login and logs out unsuccessfully.

This happens more often when I send/receive more than 10 messages/sec.

What's weird is that this has never happened before (I looked through FIX logs for over a week and couldn't find a "TEST REQUEST" being sent from my side ever). This just started happening recently and we haven't made any significant code changes regarding FIX.

Could this be an OS level problem? Maybe a networking problem? Again the weird part is, all 4 sessions drop at once -- it's not that one of them stops working and the other 3 are up. I can shut down my program and re-connect almost immediately with success so I don't think there's a physical line fault (the FIX server and the client are in the same LAN).

This is a 32-bit Red Hat Linux 5.x box.

Please let me know if anyone has any ideas.

Hi,

Could you post the logs showing the issue, please?

If you can reproduce it, perhaps you could also try to threaddump your application and post it.

Regards,
