Worth reading re Queensland teachers' strikeSome quote: [My bolding]
"Teachers have rejected a State Government offer of a 12.5 per cent pay rise, totalling $900 million over three years, instead calling for wage parity with teachers interstate.
Mr Wilson has changed his position on student supervision several times this week, moving from claiming the QTU had guaranteed students' safety, to saying
supervision would be by teacher aides, teachers and supply teachers not on strike.
He then said school principals would be responsible for ensuring student supervision, even if they were on strike themselves. [What Tha!! Given without saying, I think!]
The
QTU yesterday advised member principals not to respond to Mr Wilson's "unreasonable requests" for information, including their 'best estimate' of how many students were likely to attend school, the number of teacher-aides on site, and 'any perceived problems in providing safe supervision for students, including students with disabilities'".
