I've been on prozac for a while now and every so often I try and reduce them....
I tried to cut one out every other day..... and now I'm miserable.....
So today I'm back on 2 a day.....
maybe try again inthe summer......if we ever have one.

Hi Buff, sorry you're having probs getting off the Prozac, it's not easy I know. My experience of coming off Seroxat (twice!) was horrendous the first time but the second time around I did it on my own (with the doc's knowledge and approval) and literally cut out a quarter of a tablet every other day etc, etc and it took me almost four months but it meant I had no side effects at all unlike the first time when I felt like my head was being pushed thru a concrete floor and I literally couldn't get off my knees at one stage - a dreadful experience and a very vivid memory. I don't know how it works with Prozac but I know they started up support groups for people coming off Seroxat and other drugs, maybe there's something similar or advice somewhere on the net?

You can always ring and bend my ear if it helps?!!

OOh no!  I was coming on to say how great Ifeel since starting on prozac lol.  Oh well I shall just stay on them forever and ever amen lol.  Seriously htough, it has been 3 weeks and I feel less tearful, less anxious and much more positive and motivated.

I have never given anti depressants a good try before but this time I think I'll stay with it,especially as the effect has been so good so fast

I'm back on my two a day and all is well again.
I try and reduce all my meds occasionally to make sure I still need them. If I need them i won't stop taking them. I don't have any side effects and day to day is pleasurable rather than torture as it was before Prozac. I occasionally worry about my liver but better to be happy and live 10years than be miserable living 20.
I've been cutting my pregabalin down too but 3 days into that I've got electric shocks in my arm again.... I'm sticking to the lower dose for a few days just to be sure before I increase the dose again.
I have to see the quack soon as I had my bloods taken to check my thyroid...so I'll discuss the pegabalin then. I've cut out the brufen and omeprazole and since I've been cutting down/preferably out dairy products, reflux hasn't been a problem.
I'm thinking of looking at my diet in depth with a view to cutting things out.

Hi Buff,

Trouble is with taking a lot of things it's hard to suss out which ones doing what sometimes but with your meds background, you're in a good position to have more of a clue!! Best of luck with it all anyway and I can tell by the time of posting you're still being a night owl!!

I used to be so anti meds but now the combination of co codamol, diclofenac and prozac seem to keeping me relatively well without being spaced out so I darent alter them at the mo.  The prozac is wonderful, I actually realise how happy I am now and wish I'd gone on them sooner.

I'm glad you are finding your meds are helping you Buffy
