Problem with Snapshot of January 1

Hi,

I,ve been using the Snapshot of January 1 for nearly 3 months.  I made
some minor changes to a program which caused the object program to crash
in a manner suggesting that some code had not been activated.

The identical program (and ace file) compiles and runs as expected, when
Smarteiffel version 2.3 is used.  The program is fairly large.

I appreciate that this description is fairly vague, but are there any
suggestions, how best to proceed to see how the cause of this problem may
be determined?

Is this a known problem?

Is this worth pursuing?

I note that the last daily snapshot is dated January 13 and from previous
correspondence that changes have been made after this date.  Is there a
problem with the daily snapshots?

Hi,

The problem I described for the January 1 snapshot is still present in the
January 13 snapshot.  This is the latest version of SmartEiffel I am able
to access so I can say anything about the later versions.

What is the the best way to follow this up?

I don't know how those snapshots are maintained.

Can you try the svn version? (instructions: http://gforge.inria.fr/scm/?group_id=184)

Sorry, I usually access Smarteiffel from a Windows machine without (what I
believe to be) the necessary software.

Thanks for the suggestion but I don't have control over what software is
installed and am unable to arrange to get it installed!

Hi,

The problem I described for the January 1 and 13 snapshot disappears when
no optimisation is performed.  The program works identically to that
compiler with version 2.3.

There was a report of a change to the compiler correcting the optimisation
problem when compiling the compiler.

Is it possible to provide a current snapshot or is there some reason that
a compiler snapshot is not available at present?
