I think without the Postal Reform Act we would already be out of business. The Act gave us the ability to raise rates on many of our products and react to the market conditions. Also, we are able to offer better deals to mailers. We would not have been able to raise rates on Priority and Express in January or offer deals to companies who previously shipped with DHL without the Postal Reform Act. If anything the act in 2006 was passed just in the nick of time.
On the minus side, to get what we wanted, we agreed to prefund retiree benefits, but now it looks like congress is going to let us fund it like everyone else. So in the end, the Postal Reform Act was a winner for the Post Office and it's employees.
