It looks like the server is up, but one or more (of the 8) instances
has been intermittently up and down. Aclark has restarted half the instances so that should help. Are you getting a 500 error? Something else? When you say it's down, please be as specific as possible so admins can troubleshoot what's going on. Also, report it in the #plone.org chat room- the admins see things there sooner and can work on it faster. Emails to this list often get delayed by hours at a time, which does no one any good. We need to really address cleaning up the buildout. I believe Calvin made some recommendations and Aclark has started pursuing some of them. Let's all chip in and get things updated. PSC is running on trunk on plone.org. We need a release put together. Aclark is working on this. If you have time, step up and help him please. J. Sorry: read time-outs (and general time-out errors and spinning wheels) from browsers at multiple points. This seems now to be resolved (though the 'downforeveryone' site still reports plone.org to be down). > Also, report it in the > #plone.org chat room- the admins see things there sooner and can work > on it faster. The list is a sourceforge list. I don't think that the lists.plone.org lists have the same latency. If everyone's agreeable (I'll wait a day to see if anyone objects), I can work on getting the list transferred. The first step will be to track down whomever's currently administering it ;)

Indeed, this may be a red herring (i.e. I don't know of any "real" problems yet with the various trunks) but my goal is to "finish" the deployment, meaning (primarily) deploy with no develop eggs. So, we'll need a PSC, PHC, and POI release suitable to run on plone.org. Myself, SteveM, and Maurits are responsible for those packages respectively. I'm sure SteveM is on top of PHC, but I don't know where Alex (i.e. me) or Maurits are with their packages ;-) I guess that means we could use some PSC helpers (I'm sure Maurits will chime in soon re: Poi). In particular, people to develop and test trunk of PSC as well as collective.psc.mirroring. (Although worst case, PSC and friends can probably ship now, and I can make tags and eggs for them.) Assuming we get all our release-ducks in order, then the next step is to re-deploy (which could involve some buildout cleanup, but at the very least means the source eggs should become real eggs). Speaking for myself, I enjoy it very much when someone sets a deadline. That's why I suggested (on irc I think) that we tie Products.PloneOrg maintenance to a tune-up, or something like that. In any event, Joanna, if you want to pick a "reasonable" deadline (like mid to late August say, or maybe sooner) for re-deployment, I can work with you to see that we stick to it. The PHC upgrade will require a little extra thought — perhaps even scheduled downtime — as we'll need to run an update profile that will take some real time to run. It took a couple of hours when I just tried it on the :8080 testbed.
The update profile converts the PHC types to being ATCT-based, thus gaining us several Plone 3 improvements like versioning. Also, before running the upgrade, we'll need to reindex (there are some index errors in /documentation that will stop the update) and clear webdav locks in /documentation. OK, well let's schedule all this for the 19th then. I can be available to run the steps if need be, SteveM. Joanna, do we have a wiki or something where we can organize all this? We'll need to identify what we are doing, announce downtime, etc. Perhaps dev.plone.org/plone.org Trac? > On Sun, Aug 2, 2009 at 7:25 PM, JoAnna Springsteen <[hidden email]>wrote= >: > >> > Speaking for myself, I enjoy it very much when someone sets a deadline. >> > That's why I suggested (on irc I think) that we tie Products.PloneOrg >> > maintenance to a tune-up, or something like that. There is this ticket in the plone.org tracker though with several points about the styling of Poi in the new plone.org theme: http://dev.plone.org/plone.org/ticket/1243 If any of those points need fixing in Poi I would be happy to lend a hand, but I assume only fixes in the plone.org theme are needed. It's not on mine. I think at this point we are just looking to tighten up what is in production and facilitate a more organized deployment process. So, if issues in http://dev.plone.org/plone.org/ticket/1243 require fixes in Poi that don't land by the 19th, we'll just deploy them in a newer release. -- Alex Clark · http://aclark.net Buy Practical Plone 3: http://tinyurl.com/practical-plone ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Let Crystal Reports handle the reporting - Free Crystal Reports 2008 30-Day trial.
