After a long time preparing we are finally ready to move plone.org
over to the new server. The new server will provide a faster and more
stable hosting platform, new trac-based issue trackers and improve the
integration between the various plone.org services.
We are also taking this opportunity to perform a cleanup of the account
database, both to reduce the huge number of accounts and to prevent
account name conflicts due to switching to a case insensitive system.
The policy we will use is:
- all accounts that are a member of a group will be kept
- all accounts that have not logged in in the last three months will be
deleted
- for any remaining accounts that only differ in casing decide on a
case-by-case basis which account to keep and which to delete
- lowercase all remaining accounts-names
We have scheduled the move for this Sunday, December 4. During the move
plone.org will be read-only and might occasionally not work.
Thanks to XS4ALL for sponsoring the hardware and to Amaze for providing
hosting services.
Wichert.
