Hello,
I need help. Another network andministrator and I are trying to install plone on our servers to run with IIS. We have read all the doucmentation we could find and still no luck. We really would like to get this running as soon as possible for we are a multi-million dollar corporation and administartion is pushing to get this done. Here is what the other Network Admin left this message for me this morning. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Larry, Just ask for some help on setting plone up and using iis as a proxy. Tell them that we are using iis for a local intranet and we need it to run for our security on the server. Some questions that I have are do we need to set plone up as a separate website in iis? if not how do we set up the identities for plone in the existiong website? If it is a new website how do we set up the identities. How do we set up the default.asp config page? Should we install plone on a different server than iis or is it ok on thie same server. do we need to have plone running and on the same port as the intranet webpage? Thanks in advance guys. |

You can take a look at this doc:http://plone.org/documentation/tutorial/plone-proxy-iis-windows/tutorial-all-pages You may want to consider finding an old PC, and either install Linux, or Windows as your base line, then install Plone to learn the in's and outs on how it works. Or - you could even set up an account at an hosting company like WebFactions: http://www.webfaction.com/shared_hosting They had me set up within a couple of hours. I currently use a hosted site there to test out add-on plone products. They have very good tutorials (video based) to get you going down the right path. http://blog.webfaction.com/zope-and-plone-screencast Their support is very good as well. The support link you provided, we have followed that but did not get the Enfold Enterprise Proxy for as we are using IIS as the proxy. Would this be a different setup then?

It works very well and is quick to get working. Highly recommended if you need to use IIS. You may also want to consider using Enfold Server instead of installing a plain Plone site. Enfold Server is set up to use your Active Directory users and groups and it does automatic full-text indexing of your MS-Office docs. It's well worth the money if you are using Active Directory and MS-Office. HTH, -- Larry Pitcher Catapult Solutions Email: larry.pitcher@... If you wan to go with Plone 3, you will need to wait for the proxy from Enfold.
http://www.enfoldsystems.com/About/News/first-plone-3-0-product-expected-next-month I think you can install Plone along with IIS, but you need to make sure that you are running your Plone site on a different port then what your IIS server is running on (Typically port 80). TomSyr
