Are you looking for a flexible, collaborative, and supportive work environment?  Would you like to work somewhere that encourages work-life balance, trusts you to be a professional, and gives you the opportunity to put your ideas forward?  If you would like to explore agile programming techniques in the context of real projects that are widely implemented, then you should consider joining our team.  The World Campus Educational Technologies group is seeking to hire a Programmer/Analyst to join our expanding educational software development team.  If you have talent and motivation and are looking to join a diverse group that is committed not only to enabling students to get the best on-line learning experiences, but also to helping you succeed, then this job is an exciting opportunity for you.  We are seeking an individual who wants to make a significant contribution toward the design, development, deployment, and administration of educational software for distance education.  This job will be filled as baseline, intermediate, or mid-level, depending upon the successful candidate’s education and experience.  Minimum educational and work-related experience requirements are:  Associate’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of the Zope and Plone framework, as well as knowledge of XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP.  Experience being active in an open-source community is highly desirable.  The candidate must adapt to rapidly changing priorities and have excellent organizational and written and spoken communication skills.  The candidate must also be able to work efficiently in both independent and collaborative situations.  Knowledge of object-oriented programming and Python, as well as the ability to train others, is desirable.  Experience with relational databases, Web server administration, version control systems (Subversion or CVS), API programming, RSS, and XML is a plus.  This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding. Electronically submit a cover letter, salary requirements and resume at www.psu.jobs or mail to The Pennsylvania State University, Employment and Compensation Division, Job # 28846, Fifth Floor James M.Elliott Building, University Park, PA 16802 or fax to 814 865-3750. Penn State is committed to Affirmative Action, equal opportunity, and the diversity of its workforce.
