Plone 3.3rc5 is out and available for testing. Before making a final
release I want to hear several succes stories from people who have
testing the windows installer, the OSX installer and the universal instaler.

If any of you are able to test an installer: please do so. The quicker
we have success stories for the installers the quicker we will be able
to make a final 3.3 release.

Regards,
Wichert.

I had success in installing 33RC5 on Kubuntu 9.04 64 Bit.
The unified installed worked correctly generating a zeo framework.

By the way, the fresh install offers to install Iterate from the "add
remove products" page.
The installation fails with this message:
Working Copy Support (Iterate) 1.2.3

    * Adds working copy support (aka. in-place staging) to Plone.
    * Product Description
    * Install log
    * This product has been upgraded. Old profile version was unknown.
New profile version is 1.2.3. There is no upgrade procedure defined for
this add-on. Please consult the product documentation for upgrade
information, or contact the product author.

(I asked to the list about this problem with 3.3RC4 version)

Is iterate not ready? If so, should it be commented out in the buildout.cfg?

Regards

Wichert,

I tried the osx installer on 10.5.8. I tried the ZEO cluster setup +
production mode and the default install.
The install process is good, no problems.
Comments on/problems in the readme file that opens after installing:

1. Use the admin password provided at::
knife:~ roel$ sudo cat /Applications/Plone/zeocluster/adminPassword.txt
cat: /Applications/Plone/zeocluster/adminPassword.txt: No such file or
directory

2. This is not clear. Do I need to backup "bin/buildout", or... ?
Updating the installation

The installer works fine on XP Professional SP3.

The plone3_buildout paster template works fine here on three new projects.

I'm seeing this problem with several add-ons in a non-installer build
outs.  It appears to happen to add-ons with profiles without
metadata,xml versions.

I am testing on Server 2003, and haven't hit that issue. I will try it
in Vista/7.

Question:

  - Did you install/run as a non-Administrator user?

Hi Donna,

thanks for testing! Alex Clark got the same error on Vista, so we know
this is not a one-off problem. Your screenshot title says 3.3rc3, was
that a typo or did you test an older installer?

Wichert.

It does not actually fail.  It succeeds. :-) Iterate is listed in the
installed products when I try this.  It just has a message after
installing:

You would hope that this control panel would be smart enough to
realize that iterate has just been installed so there is no need for
further upgrading.  But that is tricky.  And the panel really *is*
right in complaining, as iterate *should* have a metadata.xml in its
profile.

Hm, I'll see about adding that file in the source.

No, it's fine.  After install it is just not updatable via this
control panel.  Should this ever be necessary you can still do this
in the portal_quickinstaller in the Zope Management Interface.

Done on trunk and the two branches (1.1 and 1.2).
