Hi all,
With the release of Plone 3.0 earlier today, we are retiring community
support for the no-longer-quite-as-awesome Plone 2.1.
This means that security fixes and any other updates to the Plone 2.1 line
of releases is officially not going to happen. If you need to support
2.1-based installations still, we advice you to partner with a Plone
company that offers this kind of support.
Plone providers in your area can be found at:
http://plone.net/providersThe supported releases at the moment are the 2.5.x and 3.0.x series.
In case you need a refresher on the policy, the Plone Team offers security
fixes and community support for two major releases (2.1, 2.5, 3.0, 3.5 are
all major releases) at a time.
As a historical footnote, Plone 2.1 was released in September 2005, which
means it has been supported for just over 2 years. Not bad for a
community-supported project. Rest in peace, Plone 2.1!
