Here's a new project thread guys. If you've anything to tell, ask or want to know about your camera or pics in general, we can do it together on here  Almost like a free adult education for the autumn/winter season?

Well I was going to try and add a photo to this message - one of the one's from last week's assignment - but I'm really not sure how 'cos I did it one way and the image was too large and the other way you had to click on it. I'm not sure how to do it and I got all 'kerfuddled' and chickened out

Very simple instructions required please Joo

Hmmmm.... I'm not the best at this but did you try the 'upload file' or the 'Insert image' button on your reply page? Also, where do you have your pictures stored on your computer? I know I have trouble sometimes and on the other site I found that it was best to use the Photobucket site as that reduced stuff for you (I seem to remember?!!) Might ask the Buffster as she is the 'Font of all knowing' on here!! But try the insert image first and then maybe Photobucket as a second option. Ask again if you're still stuck and we'll try something else, would love to see your photos as the course goes on, might inspire me to have a go!!

Just to show that I can take photos (but can't fiddle around with computers) I've uploaded an image that, if you click on it, comes up large, and then gets a bit smaller

It's part of the first assignment - looking for Alphabet shapes in everyday things. Trouble is - I can't stop seeing them everywhere

BTW - It's a 'A' shape

taken at Goole Waterways Museum. I also found T, Q, O and more A shapes

Thank you Wendy and Buffyboo. The assignments really make you think about what to photograph.

The next assignment is "Favourite people, places or things." I'm going to test my imagination for this and I'm going for 'things as I hate photographing people. So far I've thought of my Alice in Wonderland collection of stuff, clouds - 'cos they are never the same and some are really beautiful, my pencils which I prefer to write with than pens when I'm thinking... all of these can be photographed at home so I don't need to worry about the weather at the weekend.

Anyone here want to join in on this week's assignment as a forum challenge?

Loving the pic Scribbler  and also the assignment topic! Me and Jen are looking for the alphabet everywhere now!! Although Jens first attempt and snigger at 'Mum... theres an 's' on that video sleeve' was greeted with a groan  but now we're doing it all over the place!! I think thats a great idea to join in on the forum and I'm charging up my camera battery for this weeks subject!! I love your idea of clouds, aren't they great? People are my fave subject, although my family are fed up with my constant camera pointing (and carrying of equipment!). Are you using previous photo's at all or is it all new stuff Scribbler?

I love your idea of joining in Scribbler, thanks for thinking of it as I couldn't afford any classes this year so at least I'll be doing something!!

Right this is me with my positive head on (I can be creative), here is a photo I took a couple of years ago at Snettisham RSPB Reserve in Norfolk, we love birdwatching and I try to photograph them when I can, but the darn things keep flying off.  But this goldfinch was too busy munching on his teazle to bother about me.

I love it

The detail that you have captured is brilliant

Now I've got to ask  What camera do you use. Mine's a Fuji Finepix ??8000?
(Definately fibro-fogged today)

We're in the RSPB too - Eastoft being our 'local' - but I haven't been there to take photos (yet) 'cos it was too much walking. But now I've got my wheelchair I think that it's on my 'Places to visit' list.

Hi Scribbler

My camera is a Fuji Finepix too the model number is S5500, its got a 10x optical and 3.6x digital zoom, its a lovely camera but I'm sure I don't use it to its full potential, I keep meaning to read the manual properly and get to know how to use all its functions but never seem to get time.

Having said that I am proud of that photo, the best I have ever taken I think.

Looking again at your photo - after 3 or 4 weeks on my course - I can now tell you that having the bird in the front clearer than the ones behind is to do with a a narrow DOF - depth of field Your photo highlight the antics of the bird in front - which makes the picture more interesting. I'm either 'showing off' OR expressing my new found knowledge

But you and I both like it 'cos it's a darned good photo

Blimey thanks for that it all sounds very technical and all I did was point and shoot . I must get out and take some more whenever I can find time
