Hot off the press.... [Edit: I apologize for the inconvenience, however the specification document has been temporarily removed in order to make some necessary corrections. A revised copy will be re-posted as soon as possible]

Hi Joe,

Will the stop tabs/buttons on the 310 that are whited out show up as blanks or will everything else be moved over to close up the blanks?  Will the stop tabs move or just light up?

Hi John.

To help Joe out here:

The grayed out buttons and tabs will remain in position and will not light up.

The other buttons will light up when selected.

I'm considering having the tabs move as well as light up. I've done this on my website menu www.virtualtheatreorgans.com and it's very effective.

The main thing at present is to get the project distributed so it can be used. Although I prefer a completed package, we can always add enhancements later if we feel it's really necessary. :-)

Regards,

Alan.

Thanks, Alan.  Will the grayed out tabs/buttons be blank or just colored in?  In other words, will I still be able to read them or just see white?

Adding to what Alan has said, we wanted to offer a free VTPO to work with the new free edition of Hauptwerk and fit within its memory constraint of 1.5 GB.  This will give an opportunity to introduce a wider audience to Hauptwerk and VTPOs.  There are already some free classic organ sample sets that work with the free edition.  See: Free and Shareware Hauptwerk Organs

While the 310 is a very complete three manual theatre organ, the 320 extends the 310 with some nice-to-have resources.  The two ODFs are essentially identical, with the 320 extras disabled on the 310.  We wanted to leave the missing stops visible but greyed out quite frankly as an incentive to upgrade to our commercial product (which by the way will be very reasonably priced) as well as a licensed version of Hauptwerk.

Hi John.

Please don't take any part of this reply as rudeness, but I can see all of the grayed out buttons and tabs along with their legends. That said, of course I have a full screen version to work with. :-)

If you are really having problems reading them, I can send you a screenshot if you care to contact me at one of the addresses in my signature.

Due to the differences in packages there are color variations and it's possible that the pdf spec file is slightly darker than I would wish. There's also the problem of how individuals have their monitors set up.

Technically the text color settings are (in RGB) &DDDDDD for the white on red buttons and &888888 for all of the gray tabs and buttons. That gives slightly less harsh text on the red buttons and the gray is somewhere between the light gray background and black, which I found readable.

Bear in mind that the gray buttons are only a placeholder and a 'carrot'. They are there to be readable for folks to see what they could have, and serve as a reminder that anything gray does not function, so when playing, you don't need to know what it's for to avoid it.

Regards,

Alan.

Alan,

I can read the grayed out tabs but would rather not see anything (just a blank tab) on the 310 version.

That is a rip-snorter of a specification, even in the 310 specs, it makes for a very 'playable' instrument.
One query though......In the printed stop list there is an "Accomp Octave" but in the 'Button View' and the 'Tab View' of both models the Accomp Octave is, I think, mis-labelled "Octave to Accomp".

Now, we (think we) know what it means but as this will be available world-wide, do you think this little detail should be seen to?

Congratulations on what will be a very musical theatre organ specification.

Fergie,

Thanks for the correction.  We'll make the change along with a number of other graphic enhancements that Alan is eager to implement.  We appreciate your interest.
