Good to hear Bob is improving and will be fit for the reunion. I've been to a couple in the past and Bob and his team have always done the lads proud.

Best wishes to Bob and his family and all connected with the reunion. Hope you have a great day!

Are there any invites coming out for the Ellesmere Port reunion this year?? Although it is being discussed here and else where, not everyone has a computer or even knows about these sites.  I would hate to think that after all the things said, that wrestlers wont know about Ellesmere and either go to Rothwell or to neither.  Can anyone help on this please.??

why would you hate to think that anyone would go to rothwell ? i think its great there are two options its up to the wrestlers themselves were they go  the only thing i would like to know is why the elsmere port one was put on the same day as the rothwell one ?? it was always on the last weekend of may so why did whoever is in charge of it put it on the same day i think that was a bad move if they were going to run it it should have been on the normal day then the boys could if they wished gone to the two if they wanted

It doesnt matter to me where the wrestlers go, what i meant was if they normally go to The Port and no invites have gone out, they will either go to Rothwell or not go at all and miss out with the guys they normally go to see at The Port. Not everyone is on a computer or have telephone numbers of other wrestlers.  I agree, it was a totally bad move having them both on the same day.  I believe it was moved to Rothwell to encourage the southern boys to come up, I cannot see that happening as not many of them would go north of watford for a wrestling show they were getting paid to take part in, let alone go to a reunion where they have to pay their own way.  If this is the case and it is being moved for them, then wouldnt it be nice for the organisers to perhaps do a one off and move the southern a bit further north for those boys who live there??  Cant see that ever happening either unfortunately..

Tony Kelly here in reply to The Hood if you read my post it is quite clear how there came to be two reunions in the north of England on the same day. I do not feel that I have to go into all of the details again only to confirm that I had wrote two letters to Mrs. Jean Bell and also spoke to her on the telephone and spoke on the telephone at lenght to Mr. Terry Swann  also Darren Ward spoke to Jean Bell on the telephone and he also received a call from Buddy Ward confirming that no reunion was being held at Ellesmere Port. Based on this confirmation Darren Ward booked the Rothwell venue.I had no hand act or part in the booking of Rothwell but I am assured that the question of booking Rothwell in order to facilitate those who reside in London is just not correct. In fact Darren Ward was told that at that time it was then too late to book the club in Ellesmere Port.So being assured that the Bells were not running one it was decided by Darran Ward, Peter Thompson and myself to keep the reunion going in order that it would not be lost and this we set about doing in good faith and with in best interests of Bob Bell who is sadly ill, at heart. Darren Ward paid for the hall and I set about contacting several well known television faces and I sent out some invites. We all know that Ellesmere Port reunion was always held for the past 7 years on the Sunday of the bank holiday weekend I believe that the very first one was held on a different date. Needless to say it came as a surprise when a posting appeared confirming that Ellesmere Port were now going to run a reunion on the very same day as we had the Rothwell one booked and paid for and for which the invites had already been sent out some four weeks, as I say all this was done in the full and firm and honest belief that no reunion was being run at Ellesmere Port.I am not on this forum to make judgements about anybodys actions, only to explain my side of the story and to confirm that at all material times  that Darren Ward, Peter Thompson and myself acted in good faith in order that the reunion would not be lost and that we could get as many people together in order that a good time would be had by all, and of course it was done in the full knowledge that Bob Bell was ill and after consultation with his family. And I sincerely wish him a speedy and full recovery. These are the true facts surrounding the booking of a reunion at Rothwell and people must decide for themselves which one they attend and with regard to peoples comments why the Ellesmere Port one has now been booked on the same day as the Rothwell one was already booked for I can only respectfully suggest that this question should be addressed to the Ellesmere Port organizers because I don't have that answer. I sincerely hope that the contents of this posting will in some way help people to understand what took place that caused a situation to be arrived at whereby there are now two northern reunions on the same day.

As far as i am aware there has not been a official"sending" of invites the event has always been run on a "word of mouth"basis i hope this does'nt upset anyone but it has always been run by wrestlers for wrestlers therefore past on over the phone/word of mouth i was asked by my Mum Jean Bell to check the forums for any chat about the reunions

In relpy to Mr Kellys comments below i can confirm some telephone calls were made to my perants asking if the reunion was being held this year and if any help was needed. Due to my fathers illness there was no plan made at that time .Mr Kelly asked if he could run the event on behalf of my da  to keep it going in the north he suggested that it would be run at the usual venue so my Mum give the OK. As time past and with no further contact it come about the venue would now be in Leeds due to the labour club apparently not being available. With some confusion Terry Swan made contact with the Labour club to check this as it has always been a welcome booking at the venue and was always given for free due to the popularity of the day. the booking clerk confirmed there has never been a request for the venue and that it would have been made available for the "Good old Boys" at this point it was decided by regulars it now Must go ahead and the date was set it was not intentional to run on the same day but was unrealistic to try to get things together for the end of May date i hope this helps all to understand the other side of this unfortunate situation but the Ellesmere Port reunion wishes the Leeds reunion and all the guests a enjoyable event. We look forward to seeing the usual and any new faces on the day

                                                     Kind Regards J Bell

Thanks for your reply. There were indeed invites gone out in the past as I have them.  There was none last year and certainly none for this weekend.  I believe that there  will be very big turn out at Leeds as everyone is making arrangements to meet there.  I think Ellesmere may be a wash out as I know of only a couple that said they are going there and more that said they will not go to either.  Let this be a lesson to the organisers for next year.  If you MUST have 2 reunions, for goodness sake, DONT have them  on the same day as we all know wrestlers, they arent necessarily loyal to anyone but themselves, and will go to where is nearer to them, not to who is running it.  This is a right mess, I dont know what people were thinking when they did this. It is totally beyond me.
